Just joined as today I travelled down from Newcastle to purchase an Audi TT 18.T Quattro Sport 240
Anyway, set off with the car and all seemed fine, till I gave it some, and the engine management light flashed at me, and I appeared to lose pwoer and feel a shudder, The light flashed a few times, then stopped.. I rang the guy immediately and he assured me that the car had been running fine, and suggested that perhaps the fuel was low and the engine was cutting too much power so that it didn't affect the turbo if I had low fuel...not sure that I believed this tosh, but admittedly | was low on fuel so I stopped at a petrol station and filled up. This seemed to do the trick and the light was no longer present and I headed home again. 1 hour later. Same problem, not even gunning it this time, slowed down to 50 mph, and I felt a shudder, and the car lost a lot of performance.
Pulled in and the engine managmenet light flashing again, this time it stayed on, and the car ticking over sounded poor.
I turned it off and opted for the AA, it's getting late and i'm not turning back now.
AA tell me 5 hours to wait. So rather than die, I decided to limp somewhere to stash the car. Upon starting it up again after this 20 min break. Engine management light still on, but performance etc is back, no shuddeer, I realised I was in the middle of nowehere, and not too far from home so I headed back. Car seemed fine all the way home, except for the fact that this light is still on.
I am planning on dropping it into Audi in the morning and asking for a quote, and then arguing with the guy who sold me it.
I got it for what I felt was a steal. £11,300 and it only has 26,000 miles on the clock.
Any ideas what this could be, and guess at the cost? I am literally the most unlucky person in the world with cars, and don't know whether to argue with the guy and try to make him take it back, or whether to just take him at his word, and have it fixed and press on... Any help would be appreciated.
P.s. The guy drove for an hour to meet me, to do the deal, and the car wasn't misbehaving for him at the time, and the engine management wasn't on when I took it off his hands... Could actually be that he is being honest and the problem has just arisen due to my diabolical luck!!
