I have an Audi TT 2.0Fsi, 2007 which I have hardly used over the last few months due to the virus. The onboard computer is telling me I need a service but I'm wondering if that is strictly necessary. Any advice gratefully received.

IMO is your choice. All service books say so many days/miles whichever is sooner.
Its your choice. I do mine even if they have only done 6000miles |
|
Depends on what services you are talking about and how many miles since your last service.
As a minimum I would change my oil & filter if you've logged > 3k miles and it has been sitting idle for months. If your car hardly moves at all, I'd change it a least one a year regardless of mileage. |

Well in normal years I do around 8,000 miles. I have had it on a service regime that has oil and filter change every 12 months and a full service which includes oil and filter every two years. Added to that I have brake fluid and air con service every 2 years. Also as mine is a quattro and has S-tronic transmission I have the Haldex oil & filter changed every three years and will have the gearbox oil changed 40,000 miles after the last time.
This fits with one of the two Audi regimes, the other being long-life servicing, more suitable for higher mileage users. Last year of course was an odd one, and the likelihood is that this one will be too. However I will be sticking to the above, even though I am probably doing less than 5,000 between oil changes. 2 points: do you have a service booklet with the car? That should tell you what was done last, and what should be done next and when. The other point is, it's entirely up to you, unless the car has an after market warranty that may be voided by ignoring servicing. '59 plate Roadster, Condor, Quattro, S-tronic, plus other nice toys. I had mine serviced in October just before the MOT, new plugs , Filters & oil , it had covered 1800 odd miles...

Same here - an oil and filter change every 12 months even though annual mileage is just around 2000 miles. Just ticked over 40k so a DSG oil change is due and will get the Haldex serviced at the same time.

Here's a list of recommended services that include a number of items Audi doesn't mention. Keep in mind, as your car gets older, even if you haven't reached a given mileage, some things like the accessory belts will continue to degrade over time.
Like most Roadster owners, mine sits in the garage all winter with a trickle charger. Given the lack of driving this past year, as soon as it warms up I'll be changing the oil since it's been in the a year now. Hi Swissjetpilot
I like the extra servicng points very much in the link you have provided. Is there a similar thing for the 3.2 engine? I am doing some servicing soon. I did the waterpump last week, I took a couple of photos, do you think it is worth doing a how to guide? TT MK2 roadster 3.2 DSG 6 PLATINUM BLACK, LUXOR BEIGE LEATHER, 19 GUNMETAL LE MANS ALLOYS.
