Measure the black plastic hard pipe, it's either 8 or 10mm you need. Non return valve size and T is same as hard pipe od
You might not need them. Wak mentioned a while back (when i'd done mine) that he's not known them to fail

So if I go with a hard pipe repair kit ( 2 x Part no. 6N0698998) as recommended by a lot of people, £26 for both seems extortionate for all they are. What size of hose would replace them?

I used fuel pipe, only a couple of quid per meter, can't remember the size. You will have to measure the plastic pipe diameter.
I replaced the plastic pipe with ally pipe and used a copper pipe bender for central heating pipe to shape it.
I had to mod it to fit the tube (filed it out for bigger size) so it might be 12mm
Buy a meter of 8,10 and 12mm id and you will have plenty to replace everythng

Has anyone ever swapped out the 'T' Piece Housing: 06A 103 247 with something else? Like a plumbing fitting or something?

It does away with that T-piece and the separate hard plastic pipe that goes up to the 3 way connector near the cam cover, all in 1 silicone hose .
At least for a BAM it does .
