I’m putting this question to the track day and motorsport people, as I think you will have a more informed view on the topic.

I’ve a remapped TT mk3, about 320hp, and am looking to upgrade the standard brakes. I may do a couple of track days next year, but it will be mostly road driving. The rear discs are due for replacement next year.

I’m thinking standard discs and callipers, but yellow stuff pads all round and braided hoses all round (EBC do a kit). I would like more early bite and quicker stopping. Speed is not going to be high (as on road mostly), and braking brief, so I don’t think fade will be an issue, so I think big brake kits will be overkill.

Any advice very welcome.

Wouldn't ever advise yellowstuff pads from previous experience on friends cars, shit pedal, noisey and issues with friction material coming away from the backing plate.
Personally have run on my fast road 8J TTS, brembo HP2000, in both the stock TTS calipers and now RS calipers.
Worked perfectly. Have donnington on the 2nd November, so will see how they take to the abuse there

Braided lines, decent fluid, decent pads are going to be a good starting basis for it to perform better on track.
If you need to replace your discs, Mtec discs hold up very well for the price.

I completely forgot to update here.
Fluid - ATE 200 did fine
Discs - Mtec singles, again did just fine
Pads - HP2000's didn't survive well with me on Donington, they were fine on the day, but not a comparison to friends brakes (Another TTRS/RS brakes) for stopping power/distances.
Also became dangerous after on the road, hey had been well and truly cooked.
Linished them back a bit through the bad cracking and glazed top surface and they were okay for the rest of the miles on them I did.

Now gone all out on replacements.
Tarox 345mm 2 piece discs and set of CL RC6 pads. huge improvement noticeable on the road.
Waiting for Rona to piss off to try this set up out on track!

New set up

I had those calipers on my track car and tried two different pad compounds in them.
They are the same pad shape as quite a few imprezza and evo models as well as things like the Aston Martin DB9. I tried some OE Brembo pads which are actually a Pagid RS4-2-2 compound. These are a road version of the RS4-2 compound . They need to be pretty good to stop a 500 bhp 1800Kg car from 190mph. Picked some up cheap on Fleabay for £150 and they were very good on the road and worked well on the track as well.

I then picked up some Pagid RS29 pads and these were excellent. Better than the Pagid RS4-2-2 but more expensive.
HP2000's are really a fast road pad and good for light track work. I looked at the CL pads but all their pads are sintered metal, they work well but can be pretty aggressive on the discs and the pad debris can wreck the paint finish on wheels. Also can be pretty noisy. Never found any noise issues with either of the Pagids.
The discs look good, maybe I might see you on track some time if this virus ever goes away.
