Hi All,

I have just bought a 3.2 V6 DSG (yesterday!) and it drove fantastically!

I have just taken it to the shops and the car lost all drive. I pulled over safely and restarted the car and it allowed me to nurse her back home however, the gear display on the dash is flashing, it is revving really high before eventually shuddering into gear and it will not reverse!

Anybody else experience this or know what the issue could be?

Car wasn’t sold as seen, it was in perfect running order, it literally happened out of the blue!
I have booked her in with a VAG specialist locally but that isn’t until the 7th July. I don’t have VCDS or know how to access it in the meantime

Welcome to Mk1 ownership. Hope it isn't anything too expensive.

Are you able to do DIY repairs, or intending to do your own repairs? If so, VCDS or OBD11, or similar, is essential otherwise you will be fumbling around in the dark on many problems. Often it is worth getting even if you aren’t a DIY-er, as it will save costs of going to a garage who will do the scanning first anyway.

I am certainly a bit of a DIY person in the home, looking to get started on a car. I have since managed to get a code from her, P0766 which appears to be a generic solenoid issue. It is looking more and more likely to be a mechatronics issue :(

Looks like a mechatronic issue. Mine went a short while ago happened when I was driving about in town. Engine revs a bit then stuck in 2nd no change up or down and no reverse and prds flashing. My fault code was generic for mech unit.Unit could not be repaired by Ecu testing so new mech unit needed. If I comes to that it was £2233 for a new unit vat included in that price....

Symptoms are exactly the same as mine!

I am going to take the mechatronics out of the car on Monday and get it sent off. Fingers crossed it can be repaired!
