Afternoon peeps.

As most know I am in the market for a new car having sent mine to an early grave.

Anyway, I've seen a very nice Astra 1.8i that has had a 'Professional LPG conversion' but don't know much, if anything, about LPG engined cars!

So what is it? Is it any good? Is it like a hybrid? Do they have less power than a straight petrol engine? Is it more economical? Has anyone got one? Is it worth considering?

Hi tt2bmw, Less power, 20% less mpg than petrol, 35% less than diesel but fuel (lpg) 50% cheaper to purchase at present. But depends if lpg readily avail in your area. See link

Does it just run on the gas then or petrol as well?
Is it likely to cause more or less damage to an engine, in the long run, compared to petrol?

Just squinted at a couple of sites, and your link Hogs, and it all sounds a bit of a faff. And that's if you're lucky enough to find a station that sells it. Oh well. It killed an hour!
