Followed a black v6 golf this morning that had darkened glass indicator lenses, I could not see the indicator flashing until I was 5 meters away. Why why is this allowed.

I'm sure that the boys in blue will catch up with him/her eventually.

These things are annoying, but I think you have to work on the BMW principle that the indicators either don't work or the driver can't make them work and that way you make allowances and stay safe.

+1, almost as bad as people who will not use their lights in rain or fog.
