So I cropped up on here towards the end of 2001 talking about buying my brothers TT 8N 225 Quattro off him. Well his circumstances changed and he is only now giving me the keys! Haha. So anyway, last night I popped up to his house and ran Vagcom to see what issues popped up. There was nothing massive, it needs a new crank sensor and alarm horn. So easy enough. But I am concerned about one code that came up, simply saying "Haldex Controller Unit". the 4 wheel drive works fine every time, but Vagcom couldn't access the unit to run its tests. Should I be expecting a big bill or be fine with out replacing it?! Also, does anyone know of a decent place I can wheels refurbished including centre caps as these have had it.

Well I'm moving down to the west midlands this next three weeks! So around Coventry, leam, Warwick sort of area is best for wheel refurbishments! Ideally I would need a set of slave wheels while they refurbish mine, so anywhere offering that services would be proffered. Iv seen some cowboy refurbishments before so would rather take recendations over a google search.

Hi Jack, I replaced my Haldex controller with the performance controller and also get a code error of the Haldex controller unit but everything is working fine. As long as you change the oil and filter for the Haldex at the correct milage everything will be okay.

Cheers

If it's gone it's an excuse to change it to the blue controller :p or if your a cheap skate im sure someone will sell you there's if they've upgraded.. I asked for £70 for mine, but some people ask for £250 !! which is half the price of the blue one and second hand.. so don't be screwed !!

I'm new to TT's and all this Heldex Quattro stuff. What is the difference between the blue one and the standard Audi unit apart from about £400 price difference! As far as I know everything works properly, so I don't think I have much to worry about at the moment. Cheers for the input chaps. I will get some photos when the car arrives with me next week! :)

Yes the blue one puts more torque to the rear wheels quicker and when you stitch it around a corner you don't get understeer anymore but more oversteer which gives you a better handling and a more aggressive car! :D

You need to ask Wak for his expertise and sound advice, or other vag specialists on this forum.

Blue in theory puts the power to the rear sooner... :p we all like rear power it better than front power
Doggy style is good yah :p
Doggy style is always the best! I intend to message Wak at some point anyway to talk about the Wak box, pros and cons really. Its either that or the Mondo mod that iv seen recently...the stealthy fitment of the Cone filter into the airbox. I just want something to give the engine more of a grunt but not a horrible halfrauds style ripspeed filter sound if you know what i mean.
