From what I gathered there are 2 types 1 with an electrical sensor and one without? Is that the only difference?

Well in one listing its clearly stated for Audi TT BAM engine for £70 but thats in Germany, £107 from another UK site but its out of stock, £450 from Audi haha I've sent the £90 my reg hopefully its a match

Yes there is a two types , bam comes whit the sensor and it's more expensive ,
I was looking for one aswell , and the one for Apx engine was around £100 , but luckily it wasn't the tensioner ,just faulty pcv valve which made rattle sound on boost

on APX tensioner is just a tensioner, when on BAM it works as advance/retarder for this VVT system [smiley=book2.gif]
