I would go with a Wak Box and a performance Panel Filter.

This way, you get a nice turbo sound and you keep the OEM look. (Cheaper too!)

A massive cone will be alot louder - and could get annoying / could sound awesome if you like that sort of thing. You might get more air into the engine with an open cone - but could be hot air rather than cold air deenpding on placement etc.

it depends what you want. If you want performance I don't think you can look past a cone filter, and if you get a heatshield (i'm dubious how well they work but they do something) you will see better gains than an airbox.

If you want to keep the OEM look under the bonnet, you can try and chop the airbox to death and get the top back over a cone filter, or just run a panel filter.

If it helps at all, I've done quite a lot of reading and have opted to go for a k&n panel filter and wakbox mod. I'm after increased airflow, an OEM look, and some sound effects...but not as much as an open cone filter would give.
