Picked up my new baby today, it's a 225 in Brilliant black with silver nappa, 02 reg with 34k miles (verified). It's in amazing condition for its age and easily as good as my old 54 plate MR2. First impressions are that it doesn't do the twisty bits like my old MR2 but straight line speed is a league above what I was used to. Then there's the additional practicality and comfort, 2 of the main reasons for choosing the TT.

It has part Audi and part specialist service history on the long life plan that I'm not a big fan of and as it's 12 months since the last service, I am going to have an oil service and general check done paying particular attention to the oil feed pipe(s) to the turbo, I plan to use the TT shop in Bedford for this unless anyone here can point me in the direction of a good specialist in the Watford/St Albans area. It has in the last 2 weeks had cam belt/water pump and brake pads/fluid done.

Any comments on other areas that should be checked out would be appreciated.

Plans for the future include a re-map, suspension mods, cruise and armrest for motorway trips; any other suggestions welcome.

Congrats fella

I've owned mine for 3 weeks now (this is my first post on the forum). 2002 Misano Red 225 with red leather interior - happy days (rubbish weather). Just fitted a TTs shop armrest - fantastic but colour match is a little off. Hoping the leather polish will help with the match.

I'm looking to get my alloys refurbed as the previous owner believed curbs were an aid to driving straight.

Out of interest, is it the done thing to flash/signal at other TT Mk1 drivers? As a biker it's a habit but just wondering.

Cheers

Sorry for missing pics, here is what I managed in failing light:

Car needs a bit of detailing but it's a good start and the wheels have already been refurbed.

Because of the good reviews, I also plan to have the TT shop armrest, it's a little worrying if the colour doesn't match, is it out by much?

I know a few guys on the MR2ROC forum have used http://www.thewheelspecialist.co.uk in the West Midlands and they are not the dearest although they apparently do a top job. Prices start at £35 per wheel but are bound to be higher for 17/18" rims.

The armrest colour's not far off but the finish is a sort of dull matt. My seats have a shine to them, probably through years of buffing from use so I'm hoping that the armrest will wear/polish in. That said it is really good - fits in minutes and is in the perfect place. You need to work around it a little bit for the handbrake but not a fantastic amount.

Brilliant pics - the car looks stunning, nice interior combo. I'll attempt to throw some of mine on the forum when the weather pics up.

Thanks for you comments but TBH I chose the car on condition and mileage first, it was just a happy accident that it came with this colour combo. I must say though that I love the contrast and it lifts the interior, everyone had told me to get black/black as this is the most resaleable, it will need a bit of hard work to keep it looking like this though!

IUf you are prepared to travel to the TT Shop then it is worth considering DS Motors in Stacey Bushes, Milton Keynes. Speak to Darren on 01908 313885 and say Charlie sent you - worth getting a price comparison at the very least.

I have been using them for over 10 years and they are an Audi /VW specialist.

Thanks Charlie, I did a google search for specialists and it didn't come up with this one, only came up with Follett who have been closed for 2 years! Bushey is not far from me (15-20 mins) so this would be handier and I presume you must be happy with them if you've used them for 10 years. Do they do anything other than servicing, such as re-maps and suspension mods?

An address would also be useful as I've just done a search on DS Motors and got nothing.

Thanks

Steve
