Hi all,im wanting to do the rear disks and pads on my mk3 ultra,do i need to use vcds to wind back the pistons or
can this be done with the wind back tool,has anyone done this job and give me some tips thanks

VCDS needed for pads replacing

VCDS is needed for the electronic parking brake, and you def need to wind back the pistons afterwards. Simple job takes about 15 min

If you don't have VCDS to retract the parking brake motor you can just remove the motor turn it with a socket to wind it back all the way, done many a MQB like that without issue. Without it you can't get the last few turns and pads won't quite fit.
