Mk3 TT and I’ve had air con issues for the past year.
Pretty much works for 2 months and then stops blowing cold.
Been charged 3 times, same 2 months duration roughly each time before stopping blowing cold.
It was pressure tested and held vacuum for a half hour.
Nitrogen tested and no leaks.

All of the above in my opinion pointed to a very small leak somewhere. Aircon specialist recommend dye test next time.

i have done this myself and on the condenser there is a pinhole sized spec of dye (seen with the UV torch). See my photo attached.

Fairly sure this is the leak but given my lack of experience I am looking some confirmation from anyone with aircon experience before I go ahead and order a new condenser.

thanks all in advance

Hi, Nitrogen has bigger molecules so perhaps that's why no leak was detected. I can see 2 specs of dye in your pics.
Wash it off until you can see no dye with the UV & try the dye test again.

I am not an aircon expert, but if you loose the gas for sure there must be a leak somewhere in the system, then what you detected might be the cause. I would remove the condenser and test-pressure it once plunged in a water bath.
This said, mk3 aircon radiator is very exposed, it went holed by stone chips passed trough the grill on 2 friend's TT

Thanks for the reply hoggy.
Or maybe it was Hyrdogen? One of the two. But yes that would totally make sense.

I will clean off and see does it reappear, many thanks for the advice.

The top right spec is not dye, the camera has just picked it up, reflection thing or something.

Only thing guys as someone else pointed out to me the dye circled is on a fin, not the pipe on the condenser
