So here we are a fortnight after the Olympics, and with the Paralympics getting ready to start next week. Someone seems to have forgotten to tell the media about other sports. "All the day's sports news" has resumed its prior definition where "all" is defined by a narrow viewpoint of "sports", namely thugball and cricket and "news" is once again defined as some pointless punditry about the day's scores and what it might "mean". Yawwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwn.

Thugball and cricket are, of course the ONLY sports that took place in the world today. On a planet with a circumference of ~40,000lm, NOTHING else happened apart from several collections of thugs kicking some pig skin around, apart from maybe a spot of cricket. Really? That was "all" the day's sports news?

How can it possibly be that the two most BORING sports in the world are the ones that get the same old BORING media coverage to the exclusion of all else? :x

The cause of the Olympic legacy would be much better served (indeed served AT ALL) by NOT going back to the same old shit. Hosting the Olympics opened up many people's eyes to a load of new sports precisely because they're aren't normally seen due to the wall-to-wall broadcasting of thugball. Indeed there was something of a backlash against football and the overpaid arseholes who play it, yet the very same media is now slavishly back to pretending it's all that exists.

People had discovered REAL sports requiring real skill and played by decent folks who could not only articulate themselves in a dignified manner, but were actually decent people too. They had trained long and hard for the enjoyment of their sport, rather than for fat cheques and the attention of chav slags, and they competed in a sporting fashion. Children saw sportsmen and women who were actually worth looking up to.

Before the Olympics even ended the BBC were advertising the forthcoming thugball season featuring some antisocial morons for whom watching a bit of leather being kicked about was more important than anything else. Football is THE worst, most shite "sport" ever to be conjured by the minds of men, and deserves zero airtime. As for the punditry

It deserves to be ignored en masse until it withers and dies, until all the clubs have gone bankrupt and the stadia are put to proper use. Here's what you can do:
1) Only watch proper sports. Cancel any thugball-only TV subscriptions. It's a crap game and after a while you won't miss it.
2) Don't buy any thugball merchandise. You're only funding the overpaid bell-ends even more. No space or person ever looked classy due to the presence or wearing of thugball merchandise. It only ever speaks of your stultifying lack of imagination.
3) Send your children to play proper sports instead of lowest common denominator sports like thugball. They'll learn real sporting values, and games that require more speed, skill, tactics, etc. They'll meet better, more inspiring people.
4) Don't buy red top newspapers, or any publication with sport sections or supplements devoted to thugball.

Thugball is the turd in society's icecream sandwich. Starve it out of existence and get some real sports back in your country!
