Reading tinpanally's thread got me thinking about how many of us have remained loyal to the Volkswagen Audi Group since the very beginning of our driving experience (no momentary wandering to other brands allowed :p )? I am now going to have to go off and look for old photos in order to put together my montage! However, for now, here is my list and the approximate dates of ownership. :D :p

1986 - 1987 Volkswagen Golf GLS 1.8 litre (1977) Black
1987 - 1995 Volkswagen Golf GL 1.6 litre (1986) Metalic Turquoise
1995 - 2001 Volkswagen Golf GL 1.8 litre (1990) Sahara Metalic
1999 - 2010 Volkswagen Golf SE 1.6 litre (1998) Futura Yellow
2010 - 2012 Audi TT Roadster V6 3.2 litre (2003) Grey Pearlescent
2012 - Audi TT Coupe S-line 1.8 litre (2012) Volcano Red

Never really understood why one would feel the need to be loyal to a brand?
TBH I don't think that there is any particular reason why I have, although to be fair all of the Volkswagens I have owned have been pretty good mechanically and several of them were in their twilight years. :) In fact, I've probably spent more on mechanical and electrical repairs on my Mark 1 Audi than all of my other cars put together! As I have not owned another brand of car outside of VW and Audi I was just wondering whether others were in the same position - irrespective of whether they understand why anyone would!

I've been a bit of a VAGophile too.

Golf 1.4L
A3 1.8T
TTC 225
VW Scirocco
TTS

My wife has a Seat Ibiza Cupra too.

I think my next car will be Audi too although BMW do make some nice models these days. Not at all interested in Mercedes (and why are almost ALL Mercedes silver? Seems to show a total lack of imagination on the driver's part).

My list:

Ford Orion 1.4 Ghia
Mk2 Golf Driver 1.6
Mk2 Golf Ryder 1.3
Mk2 Fiesta XR2
Mk2 Sierra Sapphire GLSi (for 3 weeks)
Mk5A Escort XR3i
Pug 205 1.8 N/A diesel
Mk3 Seat Ibiza 1.4
Mk2 Fiesta XR2
Robin Hood 2B kitcar (Sierra based)
Mk2 VW Jetta
Nissan 300ZX (Z31 shape)
Mk2 Ford Focus Titanium (current)
Audi S4 Avant (current)
Mk2 TT TDI Coupe (waiting on collection)

I've not specifically tried to stay loyal to a certain brand, just seem to have always been around Ford & VAG cars. I like plenty other cars, but whenever I'm in the market for something, it's usually Ford/VAG based thats the best buy.

Would have had an Blob-eye Impreza wagon instead of the S4, but the insurance costs where mental, same with a E30 BMW 328 Touring

You buy what takes your fancy, so if you stay loyal to a brand, good on yer, but there's a lot of choice out there, my wife has been a BM slave for over 20 years, mostly all 6 cylinder power houses, she has changed this year to a Volvo V60, and tbh the build quality, detail to finish and standard equipment levels, safety systems leave most BMs for dead, my input is that its FWD and not much beats a BM RWD, but shes not interested in that, so after 20+ years she suddely as realised that some cars are not made in Munich and can be better.

For me no brand loyality at all, I just buy what looks interesting to drive, TT is the 1st Audi, nice build quality, relaxing drive, not sure if I would buy another, but overall impressed with this one. I think sticking with one brand means you can end up missing out on a lot of good cars made elsewhere.
