Anyone able to tell me what each of the 4 wires do to the plug that goes to the fuel pump/sender ?

I am fairly sure when Audi fitted the new dash pod to my car they re-wired it to the fuel pump/sender back for front. i.e it reads full when empty and empty when full.

The cable from the plug appears to have black insualation tape which suggests its been played with and I think 2 out of the 4 wires need reversing, but not sure which of the 2 wires need reversing. The 2 outer wires to the plug are of a heavier grade and the 2 inner wires of a thinner grade. So at a guess - reverse the 2 inner wires reverses the signal to the petrol gauge ?

But could really do with some guidence of a wiring diagrame ?.

Thx

Many thanks, will have a look tonight, but certainly points me in the right direction and should be able to look at wires colours and with a volt meter should be able to confirm which is which.

Looks like:
pin 1 is Black/red (Fuel pump Live)
Pin 2 is Brown/white (Fuel Gauge sender)
Pin 3 is Purple/back (Fuel Gauge sender)
Pin 4 is Brown (Fuel Pump earth)

Hi Everyone

In the middle of a service we tried to starting the car but nothing happened and the fuel pump fuse popped out. We replaced it many time but the same thing happens. We disconnected the fuel pump but again the same thing happens? This a is 2001 Mk1 TT

Any advise would be much appreciated

Cheers

Interesting to know if this does work but Audi changed Dashpod systems sometime in 2002 and if you went from before to after you have to change the Fuel senders as well.

If your wire reversal works then great but if not you may need to get new senders.

i had exactly this issue (the vehicle was unused for a very long period of time) and the contacts where the sender slides along the PCB had corrosion along with the pump no longer working.

Change the pump assembly and you should be up and running again.

You will know right away when you turn the key to IGN and the fuel pump 15a fuse doesn't blow that you will have a starting car again ;)
