Welcome to the Forum. :)

You can download the workshop manuals from the Knowledge Base. The Starter is listed in both workshop manuals under Repair Group 27. You'll find them linked below -

• Electrical System (A005TT01320)
• Electrical Equipment General Information (D3E8007DE6D)

Your starter works by spinning your flywheel and your flywheel mounts to the end of your crankshaft.
Your transmission is connected to your flywheel via a clutch at the front of the transmission.
With this knowledge you can deduct that your starter has to be positioned right in the middle between the two.

Your starter will be located underneath your engine so you will need to put your car on a lift or jack-stands (do not crawl under your car supported by a jack alone) You'll need to remove the splash guard and you'll need to disconnect the battery since the starter is directly connected to your battery's positive terminal.

Disconnect the cabling and undo the mounting bolts.
Installation is the same in reverse. Use new bolts and torque to spec.
This procedure applies to almost any car. No need for TT or 3.2 specific instructions.

I have successfully changed out the old starter with the new starter. Now I have 2 codes coming up p0102 comes up twice “Mass Airflow voltage low” “ Mass Airflow discharged for some time”. Any solutions for this issue I’m thinking the computer just needs to re learn itself since a reset accrued when the battery became disconnected.

To understand what a fault code or Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) actually means, you can run a Google Search for "Ross Tech XXXXX" where XXXXX is the fault code. This will bring up a link to Ross Tech's wiki which will describe the fault code, possible causes and solutions. While Ross Tech has most of the VAG DTCs, they don't have all of them.

• This link will provide additional information about how fault codes are defined under SAE.
• This link has a complete list of all VAG fault codes.

If you do own a legit Ross Tech VCDS, you can also look for help in the Ross Tech Forum. and run a search for the fault code there. Hopefully some else has run into the same issue and their solution may be applicable even if it's a different model. Otherwise, you can look through this website.
