Hi all, looking for your experience and knowledge with regards to the 8j ttrs timing chain.

I am looking to find out at what mileage did people replace their chain? And at what cost?
I am also looking to find out if there is anything else worth doing while the chain is being done?
thank you very much for any information

Another little question, can the VCDS software be used to gauge the health of the timing chain? I seem to recall seeing a function that measure how much the timing it out in degrees (°)?

Considering the very (very) high cost of getting it done, both because of the labor and the timing chain parts kit, I'm suggesting not touching it unless the timing chain has an issue. You will be able to hear it normally when it starts to go, especially during cold starts. I did mine last year and it was over 4k EUR. You can replace the clutch at the same time if it has a lot of miles.

Thank you for the reply, the reason I ask is because my car is at 68,000 and I am considering selling it but want to know whether or not this is due anytime soon? Can I ask at what mls/km you changed yours at? Did you gear the rattle and then change it? Thank you again
