AMI / MMI vs SD Card

Hi Guys,

Can any of you advise me if there is any difference in AMI / MMI or SD Card for music?

I currently have my tunes on a 32GB SD card, but I have recently changed my car, which has the AMI /MMI iPod connection in the glove box - I am not sure what the AMI /MMI does... although I know it stands for 'Audi Music Interface'
Would I be better getting an iPod for my music.... or is there no benefit in the difference and quality in me already using the SD card?

Be more specific mate

Is it AMI or is it the standard iPod dock ?

Yes mate, they both are but one is ALOT better system than the other

Assuming you've still got the mk2 rns-e with the glossy screen surround and still able to use 32gb cards in it would suggest that you do actually have the AMI unit over the iPod dock

As Brit says above, there wouldn't be any difference in sound quality over the SD cards, just offered more connection capabilities

AMI allows you to use a number of different sources, USB memory stick, iPod, iPhone, hard drive (I think); but you have to buy a specific cable to connect each different source to the AMI unit.

I have the AMI unit but just use SD cards.
Yes it does work fine with a hard drive via the USB cable. I've got an old iphone 4 plugged in there now.
Not sure if its fully compatible with iphone lightening cables though.
