Ok, for some reason I decided to start this at 11pm at night on my drive way, just wanted to see where the bolts are and got stuck in. Pretty easy to do without removing bumper.
1) Remove the 2 plastic trims. Small tab on each to release:
2) Undo 4x torque bolts
3) Pull fog lamp grille off, pull from side opposite light should come off easy
4) On mine I have a solid plastic backing, I had to use something to slide in and release the clips and it popped off. Behind this I then had a softer backing (as pictures) which had to be pushed to the side near the grille to access the last 2 bolts:
5) I couldn't find the bolts at first, thinking I didnt have them I spent some time pulling at the grille. It turns out I looked in the wrong location. Look at the picture and the bolts are as circled. You can get a small hand in the fog light side, and a few fingers in from the grille between the slats.
The torque bolts were smaller than the top size. Now I didn't have a magic tool for this. My socket sets were either too wide or not wide enough. My t bar I brought wasn't the right size. I managed to do it by taking the small torque bit, holding it into the bolt (easy bit) then using mole grips to grip the bit, once I had turned it a few inches, I could then undo it by hand.
6) Go around the grille and release the clips. Pretty self expanatory obviously you will want something thin, or some plastic trim removers to avoid scratching paint. One tip: from the fog light hole you can stick your hand in and push 1 or 2 of the clips in, which was good as I was stuggling to release them from outside.
7) Cut the center plastic body panel. I opted to leave the bolt holes in place but I'm not going to fit them. Cut foam away
8) Paint aluminium strut
