Last night i had trouble getting in the car as the glass was frozen to the frame. Any ideas on something to help stop this ? Nearly snapped the handle trying to open the door !

The door surround/seal can absorb water and is more apparent as the seals age and as such can freeze to the glass if there's been a good dosing of rain around.
Silicon will work but can leave smears and marks on the inside of the glass, but best if you can get some proper rubber sealant or dry film lubricant to help seal the rubber and keep your glass clean.
I tend to use aerospace 303 protectant several times throughout the year and have never had a problem with frameless door glass sticking to the seals.

Over here, in Winterland, most people use silicone grease on the seals so they don't stick. It's a lot less messy than a spray and does the job really well. But as Templar said, maintaining your seals with a good rubber treatment is the ideal way of dealing with this.

Oh, and NEVER force the door open when this happens! You will damage something, be it the seal or some door hardware. You can use a pan of warm (not hot!) water to free it, or a hair dryer (depending on where it is frozen in)... then wipe any water from the surface of the seal afterwards, of course.

It's funny to see that you guys are having about the same temperatures as us this year... which means it's unusually warm here for a change. :p

I'll be honest with you I'm really not a big fan of tipping hot water over frozen Windows and seals.
Adequate rubber protection would mitigate this from happening.
Never tried the hot water bottle job but I can see how it would get you out of a sticky situation...excuse the pun.

Nice one...be good if there's a few dry days beforehand to give the seals time to dry out fully or use a hairdryer and some clean dry microfiber cloths to help.
