Hi

As the thread title suggests, looks like I have the well known window regulator problem on my 2009 TT (drivers window stuck half way, horrible noise when I try to move it)

Does anyone have a rough idea of how much the cost to fix this should be? Not Audi Main dealer, thinking that a local garage should be up to the task.

Cheers

The replacement regulator costs around £40. 2 to 3 hours labour at the rate of your mechanic depending on how careful they are, how many door card clips break and they replace/repair or ignore.

Should be doable, all in, inc. VAT for under £300. It's not a job that's difficult to quote for so you could ring round whoever's near you for a quote.

It's really not that complicated, I've done mine twice over now and can now teardown a door and replace various bits and bobs in under 60mins. Like yourself, I had no idea about them before the first attempt. All I did was follow advice from the video that Swiss posted.

Here’s an English speaking version, there’s loads of videos on YouTube now. I’ve done mine (cable only, replacing whole mechanism is even easier) on both Mk1 and 2 TT’s numerous times, the electrical connections only fit one way so impossible to mix up. One tip I would say is that if you can possibly get the window up -try using both hands on either side of the glass (door open) whilst someone presses the button, then place some tape on the window to mark the position -horizontally and vertically, takes away the need for any adjusting. Otherwise it just takes a bit of tweaking, before you put the door card back on.
