Hi,

Have you had any experience with this particular GoodYear Tire?
The Eagle F1 Supercar is the OE tire for many sports cars such as the Corvette & has had some very good reviews. I'm looking at a set of 265/40/17 for my setup.

Please share your experiences, thanks.

Do you mean “supercar” or “supersport” because Goodyear do both and they aren’t the same - the supercar variant is more like a semi-slick track tyre vs. the supersport

The F1 Supercar lineup does have a series of DOT semi slick tires for track use. However I would never or recommend anyone using track tires for daily driving. That's not a smart thing to do.

Putting on the DOTs to drive to the track and back might be the only acceptable use on the street, and even then, it's not recommended unless the weather is perfectly dry and hot.

F1 SuperCar is a really old tyre. I'm surprised they still make/sell it. I think this tyre started in like the early to mid-00s, making it upwards of a 20 year old design. They were very good back in the day and I'm sure are no slouch today; but, a lot has happened in tyre tech over those 20 years.

The F1 SuperCar 3 is much newer, and it's probably a much better idea than the old-skool SuperCar.

How are you finding all these old-skool tyres? lol. They still make this one too? Maybe it's the sizes you're looking at--wide tyres at 17"...

Very good tyre though, at least in its time. More geared for wet performance but still a fantastic tyre from what I recall--I had a set of these on an older car many years ago (not an Audi/VW). No complaints but I didn't use them for that many miles (never wore them out before I stopped driving that car).

Are 275 tyres for 10J wheels? Or maybe 9.5J?

Basing it on 245/255 that are OEM for 18/19"s

The GoodYear website says the minimum width to run the 275/40/17R are 9'.

My car has 17x9 Advanti Racing Storm S1 Wheels with an 35et. (Only 17lbs)
Corvettes, Mustangs & other domestic sport cars run the 275/40/17R on the front tires.

Since I'm not going to change wheels, I'm looking for a solution to the wheel size strictly using GoodYear tires.

Thankfully, a lot of the tires they've pioneered in the past decade are still being manufactured and used as either OE or aftermarket options. (I've read on a few corvette forums that they came as standard equipment).

I'll make a choice in the coming days which tire to go with for the 2024 season as it's pointless to swap out rubber now. The good news is, I'll have enough time to have the tires shipped out to me in case I can't find them locally.
