Its only gone and packed up.

I think the heating element has gone and wont move onto the next cycle so just washes for hours - pretty poorly too :x

The worst thing is that I have to wash the bloody dishes now :x

However, in an attempt to get my own back on it I'm going to buy paper plates

FUCK YOU TOO DISHWASHER, I DONT NEED YOU ANYWAY!

Is there an error code on it? Usually indicated by a number of flashing lights. Which your owners manual will tell you what it is.

What make is it too? We have a smeg that does that and flashes lights up, tends to be just blocked and can't empty water. Normally piss easy to fix. Thats because normally the little fella shoves crap in there that blocks it. Empty it, manually, and have a rummage around under the filters, it's amazing what you will pull out sometimes.

Thinking about it if it does just keep washing, it could be the heater, is it cold feed only?

Doesnt come up with flashing led's etc just continues to try washing the dishes. Its a zanussi aqua pulse and as we have a little 'un too the filters and base were the first thing I checked

He tries to wash some interesting things in there, including the cats

Its just typical that it happens a few days before moving house :x

It is cold feed only and after just having a search on the net looks like it could be the heater element. I just cant be bothered trying to fix it at the moment.

I have become close to our dishwasher and tumble drier lately, as they both broke on the same day, at first I told the missus to go to john lewis and buy new ones, when she said a grand I said I'll have a look at them first.

Tumble drier element and dishwasher dismantled, all working and a grand left in the bank. Albeit when I did the dishwasher my lad stood on the open door, tipped it over and emptied the bugger all over the floor, his feet didn't touch the ground.

I presume you have tried turning the program forwards beyond its sticking point to see if it isn't the timer switch sticking.
The most common thing to go if it stays cold is the thermal link, a fuse for the heater element. If you are handy with a megameter it is only 2 secs to check after you have reached it!
Doing the heater element can be a bit of a bugger so it is well worth checking first. It should cost around £0.80 to repair if it is that.

I have been through 4 dishwashers in as many years!

Year 1 the week before we moved out of our flat the thing packed up had to replace as it was included in the sale, then within 6 months the one at the house we moved into packed up. Brought another, then decided to do the kitchen and brought a built in one, that lasted two years before I was told they couldn't repair it so had to buy another!

The elements seem to scale up and die in harder water areas. This happens to lots of folk. I had two previous machine go this way. Its the bits of lime scale that seems ot bugger them up.

When we have a new kitchen last year (and heating system) we opted for a hot and cold feed Franke item, which has been OK. Not a sign of scale.

Cant you just hook up a hot feed

Or get some Marigolds.

Twice this has happened to our Siemens dishwasher and our dishwasher is only 2 years old having been integrated with our kitchen. We live in a hard water area and was advised to top up with dishwasher salt granuels to prevent this happening so frequently. Once a week I do all the little symbol checks to make sure everything is toped up and also give it a nice clean, cleaning the filters and wash all the grimey bits they accumulate also. Mine always smells nice and looks lovely and fresh. So far *touch wood* with the use of the salt granuels and a bit of tlc ;) it has been behaving :)

Shouldn't happen if you keep the salt topped up
Deffo doesnt happen if you use hot water feed. :)

I'm not sure about the technical side of heating elements, salt etc.

Try buying her flowers (not from a garage and preferably expensive)......they usually work a treat. 8) 8) 8)
 Going to take more than that! More like a pair of marigolds, a few sponges, dishclothes, fairy liquid and some nice clean dry tea towels :p
I don't know what marigolds etc are. They're not something that I've ever come across.

What about chocolates and flowers combined?
