Has it gone quiet on here?

Admittedly my visits have dropped as my gardening leave is over but it does seem quieter than normal.
Is everyone on holiday?

Busy at work saving for TT parts!
Not much left to do now. Mechanically just new wishbones. I've got to change sidelight bulbs and wiper blades at the weekend. Then it's back round to service items, oil, haldex, air con needs regassing.

I also can't stop buying stickers for it. I've avoided posting pictures so I don't look like a complete chav .

As above Facebook etc taking over a lot of the Forums I used to visit are all but dead

Maybe everyone's car is behaving at the moment
I've been a bit wrapped in other hobbies just lately, then Father in law had a fall a couple of weeks ago and broke his neck so not had much time for anything .
Ive stopped following the facebook groups, just dip in now and then, too many idiots spouting too much rubbish. The forum is way better !

Think I'll go and start an 'other hobbies' thread :D

As Spiffy said, maybe all the TT's are behaving themselves for a while, mine being one of them as I'm currently enjoying it being my daily ride. Taking quite a hit on fuel costs but gaining a big smile every day. I'm sure the cops will pull me over one day for grinning like an idiot

Hello everyone,

Quite a long term Forum member but now a first time TT owner!

I'm browsing the forums for info instead of asking questions that have probably already been asked.

Am very much enjoying the "classic" motoring feeling that my new toy gives :)

Is booked in with The Phirm at the end of the month for a once over and to have a look at squeaky brakes and hopefully to tell me that the car is generally good underneath!

Cheers!

Oh and it will need dash (DIS) work done, but as long as the fuel needle appears reliable, that can wait a bit.

As the TT becomes older/cheaper to buy the type of information people want is often related to repair/fixes on a budget - FB and social media offer a quicker response platform.

The ownership demographic is changing to owners less likely to be on forums or putting money into the car.

I much prefer the Forum platform - FB content just disappears in a moment.

Now I'm an owner I'll be looking at this site more for hints, tips and news of any meets in Surrey/Hants.

For starters I'm willing to spend what's needed to get it to tip-top condition again, mechanically at least. The cleaning I'm happy doing!

Forum does feel quieter...possibly because it's not car season just yet? My TT roadster is sat in the garage waiting for nicer weather, but I realise some folks need / choose theirs as a daily driver.
The forum, however, is my preference over Facebook. We have some real knowledgable peeps on here, with sound advice and good opinions. This is my go-to place for help, advice and opinion of others!

I prefer it here to Facebook.
Info is there and then it's gone on Facebook and depending on your settings you don't always see everything. It's perfect for the snowflake generation who want to post comments immediately then forget.
Facebook market place is the Devils own work - I posted some bits and pieces for sale and buyers can press a button that says ' is this available' - I'm sure in 99% of instances they don't want to buy it but their brains are wired to press the button. So when you answe ' yes it's aailable' You never hear anything else back.
I've come across some right idiots, received long messages of abuse for failing to respond with a few minutes, still have stuff that has been bought and paid for but never collected,. Fuckwits.

Forums I go on have gone very quiet because of Facebook groups.

And the main problem I find with FB groups is nobody bothers to search for information - different people just keep asking the same questions over and over again which gets very boring after a while.

Still, if someone asks a question on FB I know's been answered on here I always post a link back to the Forum so people get their answers and become aware that this great resource exists.

I'm getting this too. I can access the mk1 forum through the general TT forum but I can't get onto the mk1 forum individually as I could a few days ago. I'm taking it it's a tapatalk issue ? Could someone from admin please try to find out if this issue can be resolved

I've no problem accessing the mobile version of the Forum on my iPhone SE using the Safari browser - what phone/OSs are you using?

And wasn't TapTalk support discontinued?

Facebook forums/communities have taken over I think which is a great shame as there is more rubbish put on there than useful information.
I think it comes down to the quality of the hits; Facebook pages allow people to waste time, easily, as they switch from one social media platform to another, and as a result the quality of the hit is far more transient. The layout/accessibility of information on Facebook is far more limited due to the nature of the design, and that further decreases the actual usefulness of the information itself.

Also, as a car's popularity wanes, or indeed rises, so does the activity on its associated forum, and I'd very much suspect that the TT is definitely on a downward curve. I have a few classic Hondas, exactly the same thing has happened; as there are less on the road, less people need to fix them, less people need to frequent the forum to the point that the Honda Prelude forum often goes several days without a single new post! Same applied when I had Integrales, MR2s, etc., etc.

You also have to consider the quality of the hit; just because 1000 people land on your platform every hour, but 99% of that is low quality, it doesn't mean your platform is any less valuable when it has a tenth of the hits but of far greater quality.

How do you get onto the mk1 forum? I can't get onto any of it. Frustrating as I don't do fcbk.
If I google a fault and the forum is one of the hits, then I can get onto just that one.

If you click on the icon to the right at the top of the page you can access the mk1 forum, unfortunately it's mixed in with the mk2, mk3 forums as well which makes things very tedious having to trawl through it all to find a post your interested in reading. Hopefully this issue can be resolved soon[emoji848]
