How much of a crap job am i looking at on replacing the heater matrix? Just finished swapping the cylinder head on my 225 which to my surprise was successful and i think the heater matrix has popped a leak from the cracked cylinder head building pressure in the coolant system.
windows steam up fairly quickly and when i first turn the heaters on i get a huge whiff of coolant.

I was hoping there was an easy way to do it like removing the glove box and no the entire dashboard [smiley=bigcry.gif]

Any help greatly appreciated.

Had mine replaced under warranty this March no sign of any leaking but funny smell from the system.

Invoice from the place that did the work was ÂŁ900 (not inc VAT) for the heater matrix part it was around ÂŁ100-ÂŁ150 for the Audi matrix and a total labour charge of ÂŁ450 but some of that was to do other work so would guess matrix labour was ÂŁ300-ÂŁ350 as they removed the dashboard, could tell by the cost of all the dash clips and fasteners.

They charged ÂŁ70/hour so even the total charge only amounts to 6-7 hours so probably not that difficult a job considering for the total amount they replaced the matrix, pressure tested the coolant system, drained and refilled coolant and air con systems, replaced the thermostat and Aux run on pump.

Cheers bud, considering throwing some k seal in it and then flushing the system. Not sure how bad kseal is for the vanes etc. Don't fancy ripping the whole dash out for something so simple [smiley=bigcry.gif]
