Hey there TT people!
Ever since I exchanged my 2013 MK3 Focus ST for my 2010 2.0 TFSI TT Quattro Coupe, one thing has been bugging me: On the ST, you only had to take the air box cover off and the car sounded perfect (a bit more engine noise, a bit of blow-off and turbo sound). Now, when I got the TT, I immediately went for the air box cover... just to realize you could not take it off since the air flow from the bottom to the top and into the engine. And, well... it is recommended the air actually goes through the air filter before entering the engine of a car.
Still, I wanted some engine/turbo sound from my car... the thing is just way too silent for my taste. So I got my hands on a spare air box and simply drilled two 2.5" wholes in the side of the lower part of it, thinking this would bring me the same result as on the Focus ST. Well, I must say this does not produce more engine sound than stock... which is a big disapointment.
I know some of you have bought and installed aftermarket cold air intake and filters. But does this really provide improved engine noise as well? I am thinking that if there isn't more engine sound heard when the OEM air box is opened, there might not be any more engine sound to be heard with an aftermarket CAI either... which would suck. :?
Any opinions/input on this?
