Injector Part Number Confusion

From my reading I understood that my 2008 BWA engine should have earlier 06F906036A (or Bosch 0261500020 ) injectors. I'm having misfire issues and am going to send the originals away to be tested / cleaned. I bought a cheap set off eBay to use while mine were away but after fitting them the car would not run, I put the originals back in in a different order and the misfire moved cylinder (and got worse), so at least that proved something.

Looking at my original injectors I can't see a part number on them. They have:
an Audi Logo:
<PA66>
11 04
08 03 27
Obviously they physically fit and have the right connector but the business end looks a little different. The 020s have a single straight hole but mine have a rounded boss with the injector hole drilled at angle.

So have I bought (another) eBay dud or have I got a strange set of injectors? Also I broke one of the plastic mounting clips (it fits over the injector and holds the metal spacer in place, but I can't find any injector kits that have a piece that looks like mine. The nearest has three legs but mine only has two.

PA66 is the plastic the body is made out of--Polyamide 66 or Nylon 66, not a part number:

08 03 27 is the date code--manufactured on 2008 March 27th.

A "cheap set off eBay" = stay away, far away. No name and counterfeit injectors are typically junk and don't work well. One quick video showing the typical performance or lack thereof:

Many others you can see comparing eBay/China/fake/etc. injectors to genuine, with similar results.

Unfortunately this is one thing you need to buy genuine injectors for. Hopefully the ones you sent out can be refurbed successfully and returned good as new; definitely return or junk the eBay ones.

Injector seal kits you are looking for should be 06D998907--each will include all parts to seal one injector (so you need 4 total). Now these you can typically use the cheap/fake ones of Amazon, eBay, etc. and they are fine. I've used such ones several times now with no issues. I'm actually just re-sealing my EA837 injectors right now (electrical tape on them now to compress) and using Amazon-sourced seals. Crossing my fingers but yeah other similar ones worked out fine before so I'm not too worried about it.

Thanks for the reply. I'm surprised there is no part number on the injectors or am I looking in the wrong place?

Nearly all the sets that come up for 06D998907 are definitely wrong. I have found one that might be right using 06D998907G
Looks much more like mine but the clip looks to be metal rather than the plastic one I have.

Injector part number is usually on the connector body--the part where it plugs in. Maybe yours has faded/worn off...possibly never there to begin with...

The metal clips were the updated ones I believe; they do the same job presuming that's what yours look like. Odd you can't find seal sets over there. There's lots of these sets on Amazon, etc. over here, back when I did the carbon clean on mine this was the exact set I got I think:

Lots of other listings for same ones too. Maybe that doesn't help you if it doesn't ship over there or if shipping is pricey though.

Part number 06F906036A appears to be a correct number for your BWA but p/n 0261500020 doesn't appear to be a Bosch p/n. Instead that number pulls up dozens of listings (Mostly on eBay & Amazon).

If you search that p/n on Amazon you'll get dozens of hits from a variety of unknown Chinese / non-OE manufacturers (most with poor reviews). If eBay is advertising 0261500020 injectors as genuine Bosch they are lying.

Bosch show a cross to p/n 62800 and if you source it from any legit supplier (not eBay / Amazon) you'll find the price (while much cheaper that Audi) is still 4x the cost of the knock-offs. Unfortunately I think this is a case of “if it's too good to be true...”

When it comes to mission critical parts avoid eBay / Amazon. You can save money by buying OE but only if you know the supplier deals direct with the part manufacturer. eBay & Amazon resellers have no control over the supply chain so it is the perfect place to move knock-off / counterfeit crap.

That's true (about the Amazon, eBay, etc. fakes) but the Bosch# is indeed 0261500020. That's the correct format for a Bosch DI injector of this type. The Bosch number tends to appear on the one side of the connector, while the VAG# appears on the opposite side. On the EA113 injectors the VAG# appears on the curved side while the Bosch# appears on the flat side:

A Bosch injector that does not come in a VAG box will not have the VW & Audi logos or the VAG p/n on the "curved side", but will still have the same markings on the "flat side". Absolutely fake/counterfeit/knock-off injectors could duplicate this so that's why one needs to buy from a reputable source selling genuine Bosch stuff.

These are not the same injectors but shows 02615xxxxx is the correct part number format for a Bosch HDEV injector:

Also here's an EA113 HO injector (ends in 037 instead of 020)--same format, markings, and placement of p/n:

Interesting . If I go to Home - Bosch Auto Parts - Liferay DXP and do a product search for part number 62800 it pulls up a injector but a search for part number 0261500020 says “A match for your search was not found”...

Edit - Adding this:
After further research i found several websites that explain how to decode Bosch's 10 digit numbering system but I can find nothing directly from Bosch showing they use “0 261” for anything. (Plenty of supplier website say it's a Bosch part but nothing from Bosch).

Seems like a multitude of manufacturers (or maybe 1 Chinese company with many names ?) use the p/n "0261500024" but I'd be wary of any part listed under this number since that number is clearly used by companies other than Bosch.

The 'dubious' injectors have both the Audi part no. and the 0261500020 no. on them as in the pictures but interestingly neither an Audi nor a Bosch logo. The working (almost) injectors are in the car at the moment so I can't check for sure but I couldn't find any part numbers on them. I'm going to send them away to be cleaned / tested so I'll check again in a couple of weeks.
The seller of the dubious ones has refunded me without a fuss so I guess they knew they were fake / non working.
