My Windscreen cracked

Looks almost identical to the pic on Wak's ite. It is a T shape crack starting at the bottom of the screen (under the seal). There is NO sign of any chip or anything. In fact - if you run your finger over the area, it is 100% smooth.

Audi Dealer are waiting til Monday to speak to Audi warranty but are suggesting it may not be warranty. Obviously I (and some of you) know different but any advice as to what I say to the dealer?

Sods Law should not rear its ugly head as the stealer has already seen it and says 'he doesn''t believe it was caused by a stone' but he said a) its Audi's decision, not his (this was the service manager or b) it could have been caused by driving through a pot hole!

When I mentioned that it was a known common fault, he said that this was about 3 years back and only on roadsters. He also said if it was a stress fracture it would have happened long before the car being 1 year and 2 weeks old!

Think its bollo and am half hoping he will give me some good news tomorrow without a battle, but if not, I am gonna fight!!

Dealer is talking shite (as usual). I had exactly the same happen on my TTC when it was about 8 months old. Was identical to WAK's picture, so i hot footed to the dealer with car & printout of WAK's relevant page & the dealer had no choice. They did look over the crack to try to find any stone chips, before admitting it was a genuine stress crack & they then replaced the screnn (3 times as they kept getting it wrong ).

It gets better!

Just spoke to dealer (who incidentally promised to call me Saturday morning), and I had to call them!

They say that because the car is over a year old (18 days over!) then the windscreen will not be covered by warranty! They say if it was a stress fracture then it would have broken within the first year!

I am just absolutely amazed!

Come on forum - whats my next step!??

Does the security camera cover all the car lot??

You know the rest...

I think I am joking.

My 225 TTC was 18 months old when it developed a stress crack. Took it to my dealer who replaced it under warranty with no quibble and they washed and valeted the car.

Get a new dealer

"Sellers will have to set out in plain intelligible language the contents of the guarantee and the essential information necessary to make a claim under the guarantee. This information will have to include the duration and scope of the guarantee as well as the name and address of the guarantor. On request the consumer can demand a written guarantee or it may be sent in another durable medium accessible to them. If the guarantee infringes the requirements of the law then the validity of the guarantee will not be affected and the consumer can still rely on the guarantee being honoured. "

they have to have made it clear which componants are not part of a 2 year guarantee, is it mentioned anywhere?
