Hi All. I've just bought a 2008 MK2 and am a virgin TT owner and wanted to know how to go about getting the latest sat nav version dvd for the best price. Also what are the 2 usb slots for below the dvd drive?
Any help greatly appreciated

I can't say. But it would be a good idea to check with Audi to get the part number and revision to be sure, and then order it off eBay.

In fairness to Audi, a lot of new parts you'll find on eBay are often the same price as what Audi offers, or at least very close, plus you still have to add in the cost of shipping.

At least with Audi, you know they stand behind it and it comes with a warranty.

I forgot to reply, you can add a couple of Media cards that you have filled with downloaded music, and they come up in the source menus, you can then select them and play the music on them, I think the limit is 128 MB in size, see the links to the manuals.

If you have the AMI in the glovebox its a little box thing at the top with a pull out shelf for an ipod or phone you can add a USB lead to that and also plug in a USB Stick full of music too.

As Toylortenoy says, they aren't USB slots. They are SD card slots with the following limits:

If you have an early RNS-E (pre-2010) with the CD/TV button:
Limit is 4GB each (total 8GB).
Must be original (non-HC) SD cards. These are quite hard to come by these days. There are a few sellers on eBay who sell specifically for RNS-E.

If you have the later RNS-E (post-2010) with the MEDIA button:
Limit is 32GB each (total 64GB).
You can use full size either (non-HC) SD or SDHC cards in this unit.

If you have micro or mini SD cards, you can get adapters to convert them to full size.
Note that the RNS-E is old skool in organising your music and does so by the folder structure. I would suggest organising music by \Artist\Album\Track.mp3
Also only MP3 is supported.

That's the iPod AUX interface/dock. It's not the AMI. You'll need an adapter cable to connect anything "modern".
I think this should be suitable. Note that you won't get control or selection of what is playing from the headunit.

A bit of additional support information on the RNS-E; SDS, Cards and Cables can be found here. There's additional information in the Knowledge Base to support Bose issues, Bose Amp problems and a long list of TSBs including about a dozen which are specific to Audi sound systems -

If all you want is Bluetooth conectivity, the AMI with a Bluetooth adapter is a very expensive option. Note the AMI doesn't give you Bluetooth on it's own.
Best advice would be to disconnect/remove the iPod dock and install a dedicated Bluetooth adapter which plugs into the back of the RNSE. About £10 on eBay.

Four keys like these. Note the orientation of the keys in the head unit -
You can find them on eBay, Amazon, etc.

Word of advice, put the shifter in 2nd or "S" so it's as far back as possible. Then place a thick towel over it and the forward part of the center console so you don't risk scratching anything when you remove the RNS-E.

I find these ones far better...

3 in 1 audi stereo removal key.

The ring pull ones are very thin cheap metal, so the often bend, plus they cut into your hands like buggery. The 3 in 1 ones are nice and thick and offer a good handle to pull on, plus they are multi-purpose!

As SJP say note Key orientation: flat edge of key nearest outer edge of stereo, curved edge facing towards centre of stereo.

Note that once inserted the key should not be removable without the headunit coming with it. To release the key once the headunit is removed press on the release tab On the left/right side of the now removed unit. If your key comes out without the stereo, you haven't inserted it right, or you have naff keys.
