Currently looking to buy a mk2 TT TDI.

I know I defo want a s line but have also seen a few black editions, just wanted to know the main differences between the 2.

I am new on here so this may have been discussed before, so sorry in advance.

Cheers

Black edition is the premium trim but it's just aesthetic. 19" rims in gunmetal and a black grill. S line could have 19s as well but only if specced. Both models have the sline suspension. Pretty much everything is an option with Audi so don't assume that every s line model has Bluetooth, nav AMI etc.

Mine is the Sline and black edition - 19" wheels, heated leather seats, Sat Nav, Bluetooth and AMI, Bose sound system, Cruise control, Parking sensors back only!! i think ive got all the options on mine plus its a manual, took me weeks of searching dealerships to find the one ive got with everything on it. Also put the tune2air so I can play music from my phone which is a must :p

Casey nice car 8)

Op as Ash says the black edition is the pinnacle of the models but check that spec or you might end up disappointed.

Standard black edition has the following:

Black Edition (ÂŁ1250 extra over Sline) additional features to S-line From MY12 - NOW
19 x 9J '7 twin-spoke titanium look' design alloy wheels
Symphony radio
Bluetooth interface
BOSE Surround Sound system
Black styling package - radiator grille-frame in highly polished black, with radiator grille and number plate holder in matt black. Also includes matt black fog light surrounds and door handles in body colour
Privacy glass

Cheers, i just put a ceramic coating on, left it over night to dry.

Mine also has the Homelink function, and a cool compass display on the mirror not sure if thats standard on black edition or sline

Neither are standard, only standard spec is what I listed earlier. You obviously got a car that someone has went to town with when they we're selecting options. Will all help come resale. Front sensors isn't a thing on the mk2, do you have auto lights/wipers? That's also an option

I bought one of these for my AMI https://www.amazon.co.uk/ViseeO-Tune2Ai ... B00R2HZ1XU

So i can connect to it and play music from my phone to the media function, i did try a cable to connect my iphone but that didn't work so i had to buy this. Works well and displays all my track data etc to the screen.

The Black edition has:
Upgraded radio and Bose - but if SatNav has been fitted this is n/a
19" wheels rather than 18". Beware 19" ers with sports suspension. Make sure you can tolerate the ride.
Black styling package - the grille surround is black not chrome
Rear side windows are tinted
Acoustic parking system (Roadster only)

Basically not much. It made sense if you wanted 19" wheels and the upgraded Symphony radio - and you like Bose (!).

Mines a black edition but not a roadster and has rear acoustic parking sensors also bose and sat nav. the 19" wheels are fine, ride is not that bad compared to my 1 series bm.

You most likely have the comfort package as the acoustic parking system is only standard on BE roadster

All the options were available separately but it's just that the BE package bundled a few of them together and offered them at a discount. If those were the options that the original buyer wanted then it made sense to go for the BE - otherwise not.

As for the ride, the simple physics are that lowered suspension (meaning shorter spring travel) and bigger wheels (meaning less compliance in the tyres) lead to a harder ride. Whether you like that or not depends on the roads you drive on and your own preferences.

go black edition

when i bought mine there was an sline for sale, it had 18" alloys, no privacy glass, it was light blue, lovely car, newer, lower miles and higher speced with heated seats and cruise control.

i was really tempted

the one i bought was a Black Edition, not as high specced, 6 months older, and higher miles, but it just looked to right, it took me a long time to work out the subtle differences, which on their own are small but over all add up to a nicer package.

i wanted Quattro,DSG,sports exhaust, petrol,RNSE over heated seats and cruise control etc etc. i may be wrong but it seems to sit lower with 19" alloys

19" grey alloys and daytona grey with privacy glass looks the nuts imo. looks mean

i will say however the 19" and suspension is a hard ride, there's a bit of road near me they need to resurface and i go across it dreading every single bump and rattle, but, when you have a nice bit of smooth twisty road i love it
