TTS Buying Advice

Hi,

I'm still on the hunt and think I have decided to go for the TTS. Would you recommend an older 2008 with High Spec and lowish miles (around 27k) or a newer 2010 with probably lower spec and similar/higher mileage? I would only buy a car with FSH or from Audi direct. Obviously the 2008 is now a 6 year old car but if looked after does that really make much difference and would the depreciation hit be high in a few years.

Thanks for your thoughts.

I'd be tempted to go for a 2010 facelift model which looks more up to date with slightly less toys. I think a 6 year old car will start to show it's age - worn sagging seats, stone chips etc and will be more likely to have issues.

Whats the difference between the facelift model?

Hmm this is what I was pondering over, if it was worth holding off for a newer one.

There's very little difference between the pre and post facelift - as has been mentioned there was a very slight change to the front (the grilles are slightly different) but beyond that they are the same car IIRC. I sit in the other camp to alexp - I'd rather have a well specced, well maintained older model than a low spec newer one. Toys tend to increase my enjoyment of a car and I think I'd get annoyed if I didn't have the gadgets that I wanted. That being said the TTS comes pretty well specced as standard so there aren't too many things that you'd be missing out on.

The facelift model does also come with the newer navigation plus model with a higher resolution screen if you're looking for sat nav.

I've heard the Sat Nav isn't great regardless, only want it for resale value for future as a nice option to have. There isn't any real differece that I can see between the face lift and non face lift therefore I have decided that I'm more than happy to have an older car as long as it's been looked after, right options, fsh and lowish mileage. I had an 04 plate 3.2V6 Alfa GT in stunning condition, it's not the age, it's the care taken on the car itself imo. I'm going to see if I can get the TTS sorted tomorrow, will give you an update.

I was having similar thoughts a couple of months ago. I've concluded that if you're patient you can get a much better deal on a well looked after older 2008 model than some of the newer models (especially post-facelift) with less toys.

If appearance is a big driver in your choice:
After looking at as many different TTS's for as many weeks as I have, you really do start to notice the difference in the look of the post-facelift model especially in the flesh. The newer models look more modern, classy and I think more aggressive especially when they're the black editions than the older TTS models. However, considering the amount of money you can save buying a 2008ish pre-facelift model is difficult to ignore. So I've found a compromise...
- Pre-facelft model with low miles for the age.
- Order replacement post-facelift black edition grill and foglight covers from eBay
- A little bit of DIY on the drive one weekend and hey presto! A post facelift TTS for about ÂŁ3,000 less!

Hi all,

Thought I'd give you an update, finally decided to go for a TTS and found one a few days ago. 2008 Reg Stronic in IceSilver with Black/Magma Silk Napa. It's has only done 27,000 miles and has a Full Audi Service History. On top of this as I am buying it through Audi it is having a full service including change of cambelt, 4 brand new tyres, Haldex oil change, basically everything that is due or coming up.

The specs are: Satellite Navigation system Plus, iPod connection
Electric front seats with height/backrest/fore/aft adjust + lumbar support
Alloy wheels 9Jx19 5 spoke Star
Mobile telephone preparation
BOSE Surround Sound system
Adaptive lights
Acoustic parking system - rear
Tyre pressure monitor
Extended leather package - coloured
Door mirrors folding heated, auto-dimming
Rear view mirror auto-dimming
Windshield tinted glass with sunband

I collect it on Saturday, looking forward to it :)

Sounds stunning, how much did you pay?

Any movement on the sticker price?
Well it was on for ÂŁ19,995 I ended up getting ÂŁ725 over book price for my P/ex and got the sticker price down to 19,250, It's more than what I would have paid privately, however I would have lost a lot more on my car, the mileage is very low for the age, and what with 4 new tyres, cambelt change, full service, mot and a years warranty that is renewable (and a full tank of petrol) I'm more than happy with the deal.

Hey guys,

you mind if I bump this Thread in order to ask you a similar question? I can of course create a new thread but I wanted to avoid to pollute the Forum!

Here we go: I hesitated a lot between Z4 Roadster and the TT Roadster. But I just prefer the looks of the TT Roadster. I would like to buy one. Im getting out of this thread that a 2008 version is an option. That's fine.
Now the specific questions:

1. Is it loud under the soft top when you drive fast?
2. Any things I should keep an eye on before buying a TTS Roadster?

Cheers,

Boldboy

I had a Coupe before my roadster and wondered the same thing before buying, so took a test drive in a roadster. Very impressed with the sound insulation. I'd say it was only marginally louder but not intrusive whether on normal roads or motorways.

On my second roadster now and have the roof off at virtually any temperature (down to 2C so far) just so long as it's not raining.

Go for it!
