Hi,
Two and a half years ago I changed the enginebay fuel hoses which were old and cracking with Gates 8mm fuel hose.
I used the clamp style they recommend Fuel Injection Hose Clamps | Gates Corporation
but from ABA which afaik are good.
Everything was fine no issues no worries until today.
The car sat unused for 3 weeks now while I was working to mount my fmic, on and off time permitting.
Today I finished mounting the fmic (i'll make a post about it when I get to test it).
When I started the engine, it started fine, but thank God I noticed the lower hose spraying gas at the fuel rail lower tip.
How can this happen? has anyone experienced something like this. Please help with some ideas why this would happen.
Unmounted the hoses, they were not cracked in any way, clamps are ok, not broken.
I hadn't messed with the fuel line clamp, it was as it stayed for 2+ years.
Could it be that the hose got depressed somehow? I mean the internal structure to have gotten thinner?...
As a temporary fix I cut the ends of the hoses where the the clamps pressed them, put them back and everything was fine.
Probably I'll switch back to OE hoses cause I cant trust these anymore...and fork out 200 EUR.
I'm afraid to put the children in the car now...seriously "shaken" by what happened.
Thank you for your input.
