I've had a Scangauge in the car since new and have been following intake temperatures for 1.5 years now.
Some times intake temps just seem wrong, or impossible, unless the car is sucking in air from a different planet ?.
For example, the other morning I pulled out of the garage and the ambient temp was -2c,the intake temps were plus 16c when starting off and poodling through traffic.
Now this is with a cold engine, engine bay,so the 16c could be the temp for the engine bay,but not for the air being sucked into the car ?
It just makes me wonder,is the intake sensor measuring induction system temps,or influenced by them, and not actual air intake temps.
If it is,surely the ECU adjusts to work with those figures instead of correct air intake temps.
If I take the gauge out and plug it in to my R26,it normally reads the same or sometimes even less than ambient temps when the engine is cold.so it's not the gauge that's playing about.
