Which optional extras are definitely worth it?

Looking to buy a Mk3 TT S Line Quattro and trying to figure out which add ons I like best.
Music quality matters a lot to me so i'd want B and O. I like the look of the digital A/C controls so I'd want that too. Nav I've heard can be added later for not much money so not a dealbreaker.
How much work is it to add android auto? Then I could just use google maps instead right?
My current car has electric folding mirrors but I heard it's rare to find a Mk3 with this as it was always an optional extra. Same with heated seats.
Anything else worth looking out for? Not sure how useful lane assist is, adaptive cruise might be nice though.
Thanks

Cruise control is also a difficult retrofit. Don't assume you can just buy a stalk and code it in with VCDS, thoough I see some sellers beggining to offer it again. Adaptive cruise was never an option.

As above, really you need to decide what you want, have a look at the catalogues. Prior to WLTP it was possible to have a multitude of options. I wanted heated seats enough that I worked out how to fit them from scratch, others aren't that bothered. :)

My take on the options I have...

Wouldn't have a car without cruise control and climate control (or digital auto AC as Audi stupidly call it), no excuse for manual air con nowadays. Electric seats are great if they have memory but Audi are being stupid again by leaving that off so they're pretty pointless and actually more difficult to get back to where you had it after a mechanic has decided to move it as you can't count however many notches in each direction to put it back. B&O is nice but road noise in the TT, especially on big wheels, is appalling so you need to have it at silly volumes to make the most of it on the move, excellent whilst sitting at the lights though. Mag ride is the only way to make 20s semi comfortable. Hold assist, as opposed to standard hill hold, is good once you code it to let go earlier but would be infinitely better if it worked like MBs version. Matrix is good but only works well on certain roads, actually more use for the dynamic front indicators that come with them. Supersport seats are very comfortable but I haven't tried the standard ones to know if they're just as good. Folding mirrors, as always, are the easiest way to know you locked it. At least round my way, traffic sign recognition is not overly reliable. Storage pack, nice to have but easily live without. Reversing camera would be more useful if it wasn't for the fact you can guarantee the steering wheel will be across the display when you want to check it. For some reason, given it's a small car, the corners are difficult to place so front and rear sensors are very useful.

Aesthetically, I really like the red bits on the seats, centre console and vents, along with the carbon bits, makes the interior much more interesting, wish I had the red stitching too. Ambient lights also look good and thankfully it's just good old white.

It's very personal, but thinking through the options I chose on my MY2018...

Sat nav essential (I can't be done with trying to use Android Auto on each trip) - included in Tech Pack that gives upgraded (but not B&O) sound system and phone box lite (two phones can be attached, wireless charging in the box) and SIM card slot for Audi Connect (subscription still required). Lifetime maps can be coded.

Digital air conditioning - much nicer than the analogue.

Heated seats - lovely for the winter!

Dripping, folding door mirrors - nice to have but not essential - I chose them because at the time they helped reverse out of the drive.

Storage pack - meh...

Android auto / car play / traffic sign recognition can be coded provided the car has the front-facing camera above the screen.

Reversing camera can be retrofitted too.

Oh...and if you can find one with a real spare wheel that would be an advantage at a slight loss of boot depth.

HTH

I think your wish list is easy doable as long as your happy for just heated seats and not fully electric heated, they do seem quire rare when I was searching.
I found the trouble is the dealer will say it has say tekpack but Audi have changed the pack contents over the years, so you really don’t know what that includes in many cases.

However I found one that I would say has almost everything on it with the exception of matrix lights and fully electric seats, and when I went to view the car I was pleasantly surprised to find features I wasn't aware of in the add, one example being the end of the wing mirror lights up when a car is overtaking in your blind spots.
I have Nav and CarPlay and prefer the Nav over CarPlay for looks but that just my preference.

The cars are out there if you do your search and are willing to travel for the right car, I was trawling the net for about six weeks every day and found mine private sale in Northampton, a three hour drive but more than happy with my purchase, good luck with your search.

It really is, each to their own! When I bought my last tt in Sept 2023, based on previous experience, I added comfort and sound pack ( I like my music) digital air con, dash cam, interior light pack and the self parking. I also have folding mirrors, cruise control, sensors front and back plus a reversing camera , hold assist and heated seats.. I rarely use sat nav so didn't bother with that.. I could happily live without the self parking, but all the other " extras" are great, especially hold assist and the air con. Hope you find your ideal car

I’d always go for an S Line or above.

When I think about what I use I would say the digital air conditioning as it looks awesome, B&O as I think if you put high quality into it the sound is impressive and obviously the Sat Nav, still can’t believe the TT was offered in some spec without this.

Other stuff I would want is any interior upgrades as the MK3 TT interior looks awesome.

Had the Extended interior light pack in my last car (Audi A5) and it was pretty good. Wished my current TT had it. More of a nice to have than a deal breaker though.

Sounds like your looking at a coupe, but if it's a roadster I'd look for the the elevating windbreak and super sports heated seats with the air scarf.
I'm not that fussed about Quattro to be honest, and Runflats are also a must for me, eliminating the spare wheel space issues.
There I've mentioned the two cardinal sins in one sentence 🤣

hill hold assist, crazy this wasn't standard, I had it on a 2008 passat TDI!
I added the rear camera, use that loads, especially reversing off my drive into my close

Forgot about parking sensors - really handy
As for the red accents, had them on the RS and really miss those, made the car so special.

had no idea self parking was an option. Not sure i'd trust it to not kerb the wheels lol
My son has in on his A3, and it is standard on the RS3. Neither of us ever use it! I keep meaning to try but never have!

I’d always go for an S Line or above.

Six months ago I would have totally agreed with your S-line or above comment. So why on earth did I buy a SPORT this summer?
I had previously ignored a sport on sale at an Audi dealer because it wasn't an S-line and because it was black, I had vowed never to buy another black car. We had looked at many TTS's, and TT's in black editions and S-line trim, but all were missing elements I wanted.

I then spotted an almost fully loaded Sport that was local and in silver. We popped along to take a look, and bought it!
I have since spotted several more sport editions that have had almost all the available options thrown at them. Also I am not a fan of the plain brushed silver centre console that the TT, I had resigned myself to changing it, but the trim in the sport is different, and I like it. The smaller wheels are growing on me too!

I am virtually the same as you, my search was for a S Line but the car I bought was a sport, I didn’t realise at the time as it had nineteens along with all the speck almost every option as mentioned before.
I only realised it was a sport after getting an insurance quote as it came back as being a sport.
I thought long and hard at this car as I hadn’t given a deposit as it was private, the only down side at this particular time in my mind was the side skirts, the S line flare out slightly compared to the sport and looks one hundred percent better, but the speck one me over in the end as it it’s a 67 plate with just 23k on the clock with full Audi service history sealed the deal.

I still think if I would have waited a SLine would have come up meeting my brief, but this car had a lot of things above my brief, so unless buying new with bottomless budget you have to comprise.

If you go for a newer model they have most things, I have a 2022 Sport Edition, I'm a bit of a purist and don't like the fake plastic vents of the S Line...mine as standard has heated seats, elec mirrors, auto handbrake, cruise control, android auto, 19inch alloys..the only options they might need would be comfort/sound, Nav and the climate upgrade
