For spec and tech the Rocco wins hands down

Other than that there very similar cars, both have age very well but now both are starting to look dated

I originally wanted the Rocco over the TT, but it's the wife's car and she preferred the tt out of the two

If I were buying again, I'd choose the Rocco

My girlfriend recently bought a roc 2.0 petrol and it's stunning. Drives really well. Plenty of punch, auto gearbox and much better audio system compared to my TT.

I was tempted to get one but went TT again. Some of the dash put me off the roc but she has had all the silver trim parts wrapped and it looks much better.

I would be tempted for a change to a roc as it drives sweet, much more space inside, lots of kit for the money and the body shape is very good. I get to drive TT and roc regular and the roc is a close second for me but if it was down to what you get for your your pound and still want style and fun then roc wins.

Pound for pound I think the roc wins but if you have Audi in your blood it's damn hard to move away from.

Just my 2p worth.

Went from a Roc to a Mk2 TT. The TT looks nicer and has a far better finish inside. But the Roc is more practical with proper, usable back seats and a decent boot too.
The Roc has more kit from standard but most TTs will have many extras added on. The Roc had a touch screen radio which worked well and most have sat nav included as well. At best you'll get the RNSE in the TT.
Performance wise it depends upon which model of either you go for.

As you have a TT1 you clearly like style.

Why on earth you'd want to go for the vw unless you desperately need to get more than 2 adults in for long journeys utterly baffles me. At best it's an ugly hatchback that I lump in with all other chavvy hatchbacks like a fiesta.

THe TT is a work of art.

The TT mk2 is bigger and meaner than the tt1 by a long way.

I have a TT2 and the space you get inside is shocking. Even without putting the back seats down you have a big boot but put the seats down and I make regular trips to DIY stores buying big boards, furniture etc it's just incredible.

Unless you need more than 2 adults there's zero contest.

Went from a 225 Quattro to a 2010 210bhp Scirocco gt with truffle Vienna heated leather, 510 Sat nav, Bluetooth, dynaudio stereo... it's quite a nice car but it's definitely not as nice a place to be as my old TT, it's a better chassis and a better engine for sure but the fwd means you can't really get the power down as well as you'd expect, I'm now looking to move on to a mk2 TTS...

The Scirocco quality doesn't feel great go me, very light doors and tailgate, i regret buying it.
