Just picked this up today. I’ve never seen a roadster with the hard top before but it looks badass. Does anybody know if this was a dealer add on or aftermarket? All I know is it’s incredibly rare and these tops definitely bring some $ on the used market.

It was a dealer option very rare in the UK so I’d guess even more so in the US

they look amazing- look just like the original concept car. If I had a MK1 ragtop, would love one of those. the owner at the TT shop, has one. They look very good when colour coded to the bodywork. very rare and very pricey I bet.

Yep I always say the roadster with a hardtop looks more like the concept coupe then the production coupe
In the UK they sell for £1500 or more

Havent logged into the forum in ages, funny that this topic is here!! i have a hard top and was considering selling as I dont think ill ever use it.

My TT is very much a summer car now so dont see the point in keeping it as it takes up valuable space in the garage, Interesting to see the comment about it being worth £1500? if anyone is seriously interested i could be persuaded in selling.

You need to sell it with the rear mounts that are fitted to the car as they only came on roadsters fitted with hard tops

That’s the going rate for a roadster hard top they can go for a lot more

There’s a hard top on eBay UK currently for sale as a buy it now @ £1495.
When I bought my roadster in 2020 there was a 225 roadster for sale (complete with hard top) at £1500.
I think they do look handsome but I like wind in the hair motoring too much to consider buying one 🤣.

Exactly the reason id sell it, ive been watching that one on Ebay for a while now to see if it sell. must admit it is alot quieter with the hard top on than the rag top but mine always had the warning light for the roof on when the HT was fitted, not sure if its just mine that had that problem, it goes off with the rag top up.

has it got the rear mounts that fit to the car with it as they cannot be fitted with out them ?

So I bought the Desert Green Hardtop that the TT Shop advertised on Thursday. It came with the fitting kit, stand and cover. I’m based in Ireland and I was lucky to find a guy coming back from the UK with a fairly empty truck.
I picked it up from the haulier today and I’m going to have a closer look tomorrow.
Is it difficult to fit?
Are there any guides, videos showing how to fit it?
Do I need a protective strip across the back behind the seats? I saw that on one photo.
Any fitting tips would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks folks, I paid £1500 for the hardtop but it came with the full fitting kit, zip on cover and a stand for storage.
That seems to be the going rate. I needed a few small parts so I got him to throw them in to sweeten the deal.
Thanks for the tips @YELLOW_TT, when you say rear mounts, do you mean the two brackets that bolt on behind the side doors? Beside the soft top hinges?

Yes that’s what I meant by the rear mounts 👍

Regarding the protective strip, would something like a foam or neoprene strip work if it is stuck to the bottom of the hardtop surface? I have some window sealing tape that is 3mm thick foam and it is designed to compress to make a seal. Would this work?

No the bottom of the hardtop already has a rubber strip on the back edge, but it will rub on the cars paint work and mark it you need some thing stuck to the body work, as I said I had a clear vinyl strip made and fitted to the body

Okay, do you know what grade or thickness of vinyl you used?
I know a sign company where I can get some vinyl sheeting.
Sorry I don’t but PPF would be best I’m guessing

Yes just remove the hardtop and the soft top is ready to use again
