B&O Amplifier

Hi. The amp in my 2017 Mk3 soft top is now fried and beyond repair after flooding to the interior caused by a blocked drain. The model number is 8S0035466A. A new unit from Audi is £1776 :( . I have looked at scrappers/ebay and if you can find the matching model number the cost is about £1000, give or take a £100. The TT amps certainly go for a premium price. I noted that other B&O amps for other Audi models ending with 465 sell for £150, give or take £30. These are identical externally so I asked Audi whether a particular 465 model would work in my TT but they couldn't help. Would anyone out there know if I can stray from an exact model match ? Many thanks in advance.

Thanks for your reply Frizzley. The unit was examined by a competent friend and colleagues and deemed unserviceable :(
As far as compatibility with a cheaper model is concerned I think this is probably a no hoper too due to variations between Audi models and whether soft top or coupe :(

I read a post somewhere where someone replaced the TT B&O amp with an R8 B&O amp.
I think he did it as a hifi upgrade as the R8 has a sub he got the ability to control his after market sub via the head unit.
He said that It wasn't straightforward as component protection needed to be removed (which you may need with a 2nd hand unit anyway?) and the wiring in the connection plug needed altering but if you know what you are doing (I think this guys may have been a VAG tech) then it sounds like a good possible option.

Hi Steve190. Thanks for taking the time to reply and the information provided. I will look at that and post my progress. Thanks again
This one was listed today -£520 and open to offers !

Wow, that price is about 40% less than the others on eBay and 70% less than a new one from Audi (although the £1776 price I was given includes the 25% mark-up that an Audi Dealer Parts Dep't would fleece me for). Thank you very much for this Frizzley. I think this might be a winner.
