I changed my carbon canister today as i dont believe that they are a life time part.
Old

The old canister was heavier and you could hear the charcoal moving inside.

ÂŁ11.95. So even if it makes no difference at all, it aint broke the bank. :p
 
From Ebay I presume? I was thinking of getting one too but ended up replacing my EVAP valve which helped.

How easy was it to remove the pipes from and re-attach to the new purge valve. Any special tools needed apart from the basics?

Yep, 2 min job.
Pull top plug out, use pliers to remove pipe clamp and the canister lifts out of its mount.
It was from ebay.

Sure, it helped with an error code I was getting which was: 'P0441 - Incorrect Flow (EVAP)' which hasn't returned since replacing. Interestingly enough I've also noticed better MPG since I changed the part too which has been most welcomed.
