clutch pedal switch help...

Hi
Just had a new clutch pedal switch fitted to help cure a little over-revving when changing gear. Anyway the fitter gave my car a test drive and said see how I get on ..... it seems a little better . :?:

Driving home I thought it was the same. So back home, on my back, head in the footwell I can see the switch with a long thin plunger slipping past the pedal arm and seemingly not being activated.

Rang 'em back and he'll have a look tomorrow saying they are a pig to fit.

Does anyone know, should the switch plunger locate against the arm of the pedal and be fully depressed when clutch pedal is idle, and then come out when clutch is depressed.? ( ÂŁ40 supplied n fitted by the way )

Thanks for any info
Regards Dave

you are missing a plastic clip that clips onto the pedal and provides the flat surface that the pedal switch should be resting against.

part number 1J2721332A

make sure you remove the switch , fit the clip, leave pedal up and then fit the switch again

Thanks Ian.....did you feel a difference in the driving of the car at all? (I'm getting the black clip fitted tomorrow.)

I feel a bit 'soft' because this is the third little job I've had done by someone else since owning the TT, all well within my capabilities, but I've had this doubting myself, you know, serious piece of kit, dont want to cock it up....but in hindsight I would have been ok. Gonna be more positive from now on.

I'm just doing a bit of surgery, battery change in the alarm siren box following a fantastic 'how to' posted on here.

GREAT FORUM SITE THIS.....regards dave

All sorted now, brilliant.
I had adapted my driving to take foot off the gas a split second before clutch/gearchange to alleviate the over-revving a bit. Now its just away we go like it should....revs dip as soon as I clutch to change. Thanks to midland vw for diagnosing the problem in the 1st place and fantastic service. :p

Hi Wak

When they changed my thermostat and took it for a test drive last week, mechanic said all sorted, but said did I know it probably needed clutch pedal switch looking at as it was over-revving a bit on gear change. Did'nt know there was a switch to do that!... only come across cruise control switches down there. also only had the TT 8 weeks and suppose I'd got used to it....put it down to a little turbo over-run.
