Dension ICE LINK PLUS - questions

Folks,
I'm thinking of buying a Dension ICE link plus with a charging cradle.

I have a few questions to ask regarding the serial numbers of the Dension units.

I was in Halfords yesterday and saw one PLUS box. Opened it up just to have a look at the bits and found there was no bracket to mount the cradle on. I assume I need to buy a damage free bracket aswell. Any advice on which one I should get and the best position for it?

My next question is regarding the 'brains' of he Dension. There was a long rubber covered 'thingy' which had the a sticker with the letters VW on it. Am I right in assuming I need to get the one with an AUDI sticker on it?

There was a colour book in Halfords and going through the Dension section, under Audi TT, I saw a Part number for the dension as 213202 (also on the back of the Dension box) and mount left bracket 652676. So does this mean that the Dension for the TT must have this part/serial number of 213202 to be compatible? Or is the right part number I20-AUDI-R-CA?

Thanks

Guys,
Anyone who has a Dension ICE link Plus, can you answer the following plesae...

1. when you use the Dension, does the backlight on the ipod always stay on?
2. With the Plus, can I use my stereo controls to select playlists, move forward, backwards etc....
3. In the IPOD mode, do I get full playback of all IPOD functions?
thanks

Well, I have gone and done it. Ordered the Plus version today with the active cradle. Also ordered a Brodit knee mount and the radio removal keys..... all for £130 delivered......

BTW, I checked with Cooltopia and yes, the current 5g ipods can be used..

cheers

Yes, video IPOD 60gb should work... i hope... I am ordering my Dension Plus tomorrow, with a brodit clip of course :p :p ...........
The only iPod that doesn't fit the active cradle would appear to be a 30GB Photo iPod....the one I've got :?

Can use the dock cable without any problems though.

This Bracket (here) from the TT Shop is pretty good IMHO.

Reading on i just bought myself a dension ice link plus kit, does it not come with everything to mount it? as you guys seem to be going for a Brodit knee fixing spangle dangle thing :D.

Needed? i have the stereo keys come through the post today :D
Nope, afraid not.... the Plus kit comes with an active cradle (or dock connector), which you need to mount.... either you drill a few holes in your dash, or you get a Brodit, Dashmount, or the TTshop knee holder mount.... it's a shame, coz this means you need to fork out an extra £15 for the mount. I bought all my stuff in one hit from cooltopia.... I thought what the heck... just waiting for it to be delivered.... oh yes, £6 postage  via city link

I've got mine in my glovebox. I had the Brodit bracket but found that every time the missus got in I was worried in case she smacked it with her leg. Also, if people could see the cradle, they might break into the car to try to nick the ipod. Just like they do with the sat nav systems.

Just went home for lunch and my lice link plus has arrived, perfect fit with the ipod video 60gb in the dock so i do not see any problems, also it comes with the mounts to attach it to the dash. I see other people have ordered a different mount, any problems with the current one? looks like it just sticks on. Want this day to end so i can burn home and fit this thing  well good deal on ebay got it for £70 :D

I've had an icelink and proclip for a couple of months now and its a great addition. still wish I could find someone who'd make a switch so I could get my CD changer back too... but that's another story ;)

This is probably really obvious but I only figured it out today... I found that if you turn the right hand knob on the stereo it moves through the tracks in the current playlist.

Anyone else got any tips? Anyone know if its possible to fast forward through a track from the headunit apart from just pressing and holding the fast forward button? Its a bit of a pain if I want to go to 30 mins through a podcast or something, you have to hold it down for ages and it hurts my poor little finger

Also how big is the text on everyones ipod when its mounted? Mine is about the normal ipod text size or maybe even slightly smaller and I have no chance of reading it from the drivers seat (and my eyesight is pretty good). I'm sure someone posted that their text was massive after a firmware update or something?

Would thishelp?
Hmmm, possibly. Would installing this mean that you loose the icelink functionality?
To be honest, I have no idea fella, maybe drop Rhod_TT a PM and he can advise...

ok this is a really stupid question but i am a newby to this, ok 2 things, first whats the best route to take the wire from the back of the stereo through to connect to the clip i have bought from coolopia to mount near the gear stick. Second the radio keys, i tried to push the radio back in and it takes a hell of a lot of force. When i get this is right do the radio keys then release, cant seem to get them out otherwise lol.

Cheers

Fitted mine yesterday, decided to run it through into the glove box because I wasn’t to bothered about being able to see the screen and didn’t want to have to take it out each time.

I found the easiest way to remove the radio keys was by pressing in the side tabs before pushing the radio back into place.

Was a little nervous about taking the glove box apart because I only got the TT on Wednesday and the idea of drilling holes in to it was unsettling to say the least! But all worked out okay and it’s great to be able to control the Ipod through the radio. Just a shame that it can’t display the ID3 tags

Considered a Phatbox??

- invisible to thieves
- compatible with head units
- don't need coat hangers to install - a doddle in a roadster!
- voice navigation instead of small display

I am sure that iPod supporters can argue points in defence, but I have had my Phatbox for 1 week now, and it has totally integrated into the car, and so easy to use.
£180 off of Ebay!

100% recommended!

Thanks, I drilled 4 pilot holes into the clip and screwed in the cradle holder, looks good :)

Unfortunately, I could not get my Chorus out! So I could not complete the Install ... sigh!

Anyway, on another note, what is the latestet firmware for the Dension Plus? Mine out of the box says 2.02?

cheers
