Hi guys finally got a deposit put down on a mk 1 225 silver coupe , done 76k … the cluster panel seems to not be working great tho which I know is a common fault .. I ll want to get this done soon as .. the temperature is not moving to 90 the fuel reading doesn’t go up and LCD comes and goes .. I’m in the midlands derby area .. does anyone know who does fixes these ? And would I have to take out myself or can I take my car to have it done? Is it a hard job to take out yourself ? And also will it affect anything putting it back in etc mileage ? Thanks again and sorry for all questions 😂

From what I hear, Patryk at Totaltronics in Rugby is a good place to go. I haven't tried it myself, I'm putting up with the faults until I've got the poor running issue sorted out fully, but I hear good reports and he's relatively local to you. As I understand it, you can drive there by appointment and he'll remove it, repair it and re-fit it while you wait.

On the temperature thing, it would be worth checking whether it's the dash displaying the wrong temp, or the car not warming up because of a bad thermostat. Search for "49c trick" and it'll show you how to display the coolant temperature on the climate control display, and if it's not getting up to 83-odd degrees, it probably needs a thermostat replacement. That's a fiddly job, but not terrible to someone who's got a suitable spanner to get on the bottom bolt. As with the cambelt, access is the thing that makes it fiddly.
