HAHAHA tell me about it, I tried to wrap my windscreen surround with my mate, absolute fail.

 

I agree with getting the pro's to do the wrapping as its a pain.

Spelling "professional" correctly is always an advantage.

I did my stripes. Slowly and carefully.

 

It is not that hard, did a Touareg with my brother. But you need:

A warm cosy garage. Over 20 C
A heatgun.
A copletly clean car, not any dust, all dust will look like air bubbles.
Quality wrapping vinyl, Oracal RA or 3M 1080.
Patience and some more patience

agree get the pro's to do it, I tried wrapping my last cars roof did an amazing job right until the end and bug got trapped under it!!!!! had to remove the lot..didn't realize at first thought it was an air bubble tried smoothing it out and heard a crunch lol......nice juicy flying beetle

Stripes are waaaaay easier... roof in concave and it makes the whole thing much worse.

Regarding the spelling; I'm a foreigner, so don't be too harsh

 

Ah forgiven then.

A compound curve is much more difficult, but that's why using a good quality vinyl is important. Those made by 3M and Helix allow air bubbles out and stretch without affecting the colour.

 

Vinyl Wrapping isnt for the faint hearted! Customer of mine wanted vinyl for his roof thought he'd do it him self as hes done many interior panels himself in carbon (which didnt turn out to bad if im honest)....later that day he was on the phone asking if i had anymore :lol: He left it for pros to do it now.

 

first of all you need make the roof minimum 35 C dergree , vinyl must be hot is well
course roof must be very clean , than you use wet tissue , or some soft matrial cotton wherever , and slide very slowly on the rof so all air is not going underneath

Oh and TBH I somehow don't like black roof anymore... maybe that's because I used carbon vinyl instead of gloss black, but it somehow doesn't suit a TT without a V6 bumper/spoiler...
