G28 Camshaft Sensor

Hi folks,

I decided to finally try and sort out the camshaft sensor problems I've been having since I pretty much got the car. In the time I've had it I think I've had almost every sensor error you can get with the camshaft. I've replaced it twice - once with a cheap ECP part which was shocking and then with a Bosch part.

I've had implausible signals, correlation issues (with the G40) and a couple of other ones as well. I'm wondering if the Bosch part is not working properly? My Audi dealership will sell me a new G28, but it's about ÂŁ130. I'd happily pay it if I knew it would work. I did wonder if there was anyone who lived near me (St Neots, Cambs) who either had a spare or might lend me theirs to see if it clears the code (and then I'll not feel so bad buying one).

Any thoughts/input would be greatly appreciated :).

I had a very similar issue with my first tt
camshaft sensor kept setting off the eml light and giving a camshaft sensor fault.
I replaced it twice also,
once with a cheap one then with a genuine part, still the same issue.
After spending the best part of a month
trawling the forum's
it was suggested that I check the cam belt to see if the timing marks where all ok and lined up correctly.
It turn out the belt had jumped 1 tooth and this was causing my fault code,
After having the cambelt sort I never had any more problems.
Might be worth looking into

Are the TPS parts genuine Audi? Even still.. is the Bosch one that I have genuine? I can't justify the ÂŁ80 without knowing it's worth the spend at the moment.

I've had three mechanics look at my timing, all of whom have said it is correct. One was just an indie, the other two were indie VAG specialists (ex Vindis). I've had G28 replaced, G40 replaced, cam belt replaced (with pump etc) and timing checked several times.
