...... I've just replaced the brake switch after VCDS logged a fault on the AWD module mentioning an implausible signal. I used a Febi part that was £8. Driven the car for around 30 miles and rescanned and the fault hasn't come back.
Whilst looking in VCDS I noticed that you can do an Output test on the AWD module so I tried to select this. The first test mentions the charge pump but after that it doesn't do anything. It literally pauses for about 5 minutes and then returns to the previous screen. From looking on YouTube I've seen a few people do the same test and it cycles through a number of the Haldex operations.
I've been through the VCDS measuring blocks and can see the Haldex voltage (12.4v), the temperature, the status of all of the switches, the fact that it's communicating with the ABS and the ECU, and also the status of the pump (which shows as off with the ignition off and on with the ignition on).
It then occurred to me that I have no idea if the Haldex system even works. I've only done about 500 miles in the car since I got it in January. One of the first things I did was to get the Haldex oil and filter changed by a VW specialist. But i've never driven the car in conditions where the wheels would have lost grip so I just don't know if it even works.
Have others been able to do an Output test in VCDS? Or is there another way of me knowing if the Haldex works? I've seen a few people say pull the handbrake on one click to disable the Haldex and then set off quickly to see if I get wheelspin. But I've tried that and I don't seem to get any!

) I found that finding a country lane with plenty of loose gravel on its margins was an easier way to test the Haldex.
