Hi,

my driver-side heated seat no longer gets hot - the red lights around the switch do light up, but the seat stays cold.

Can anyone provide any pointers/guides as what I should be looking for in order to fix the problem?

Thanks,

Mike.

The passenger seat works normally.

Does fuse 44 protect both seats or just the driver's side?

Thanks,

Mike.

Fuse no 44 does both seats, so if you can swop the switches over then if it's the switch then at least yer drivers one will be ok, if after the swop the drivers still does not work then the issue is in the wiring to the seat or the wiring in the seat I would think.

Silly question maybe
One of my heated seats isn't working, I want to unplug the wiring under the seat to check it isn't corroded etc, but am a bit nervous in case I set off a air bag or something.
Told you it might be silly, but can I go ahead and unplug all connectors under seats safely.

thanks

Ok,

so to check the resistance in the heating elements, does anyone know which pairs of wires I should put the multi-meter across please?

Thanks,

Mike.

It's not easy to measure the resistance to see if they're open circuit or not, They have an overtemp sensor wired in to the element loom too.

Fuse, Switch transpose, Then it's probably an element that has failed - not a bad job to replace, just knowing where to pull on the trim and leather.

It's normally a knee, elbow or hand leaning on the seat base that kills them! It's a fine wire mesh that heats up, so quite fragile.

To replace the elements is a bit of a trickey job as the seat needs to come completely to bits so you may need proper upholstery tools. The foam will be a bit crumbly after all these years and may come away when you remove the element leaving the seat bumby and uneven which may show up when you replace the leather.
It may be simpler just to get some replacement seats and pop them in! The element may cost more than you think.
If you are getting power to the connection under the seat and it's not working then chances are the element has gone.

I've been usuing the kufatec mk4 golf stuff to install heated seats in Lupos for a while now and you're right, I often find myself repairing foam and stripping the seat down takes hours.

I would probably just buy a passenger TT seat and swap bits over to make it a drivers seat, if you do it right the only way to tell is the airbag logo will be on the inside. ;)

Check the classifieds , ive got 2 grey heated seats for sale somewhere in there.

They work and would be ideal for salvage, failing that, try the connectors as suggested :?

Hey mate, I'm too much of a newbie here to be able to pm or see the classifieds but I'm interested in your grey seats as my drivers side isn't working and it's getting super chilly lately.

Also, does anyone know how to cancel the key fob function that brings the windows down? I accidentally sat on my keys the other day so woke up to a freezing cold TT inside and out!
