Heater not getting hot. Reaching temperature

For the last few winters my heater is not as hot as it used to be. When I first purchased the car I had the thermostat replaced and a coolant flush performed. That fixed my issue of not reaching temperature. I had blistering hot heat after that procedure. But after a few years its steadily getting worse. I have to run my heater all the way to work and never turn it off. My car temperature is perfect. The heater does produce heat but not the blistering heat I am used to. Any suggestions? Thank you.

Hi, More than likely the thermostat again, especially if it was aftermarket & not OEM.
Check actual coolant temp by using Code 49 on climate control, should reach above 82 within a couple of miles & never drop below.

I tried what you told me to and I am staying at a steady 90. Car is reaching correct temperature. Anything else I can try?

Thanks.

Hi, You did use code 49 & not Code 51 as 51 always settles at 90 regardless.
If Code 49 is staying around 90 while driving normally, then unlikely to be stat. Maybe flaps in CC have stuck & mixing cold air, or failed temp sensor for interior temperature.Check some of the code on CC for air temp indications.
A VagCom scan of that area should pinpoint dodgy heater flaps.
