How to: Enable Lock/Unlock Chirp Menu in DIS

Though I knew that the lock/unlock chirp could be enabled through VCDS, I didn't realise that it was also possible to enable a menu in the DIS for this (I don't have the chirps enabled, but I like the idea of being able to enable it though the DIS rather than with the laptop).

For cars from 2009 or earlier with the separate central convenience module 46:
  • Byte 8, Bit 1 - enable 'Unlocking Confirmation (Horn) via Door Locks'
  • Byte 8, Bit 3 - enable 'Unlocking Confirmation (Horn) via Remote Control'
  • Byte 8, Bit 7 - disable 'Horn Confirmation Configuration blocked'
  • Byte 9, Bit 1 - enable 'Locking Confirmation (Horn) via Door Locks'
  • Byte 9, Bit 3 - enable 'Locking Confirmation (Horn) via Remote Control'
    • Can now be turned on or off under adaptation channels 7, 8, 10 and 11 or the DIS.
For later cars with the combined BCM 09:
  • Byte 5, Bit 1 - enable 'Locking Confirmation via Horn active'
  • Byte 5, Bit 2 - disable 'Horn Confirmation Adaptation blocked'
  • Byte 5, Bit 4 - enable 'Unlocking Confirmation via Horn active'
    • Can now be turned on or off through adaptation channels 10 and 11 or the DIS.
There are now new options in the DIS under Set > Doors:

It seems I have the 09 module and so therefore this does not work on my car.

I would be interested to know if anyone has found a work around for later vehicles?

Really must buy one of those VCDS contraptions.... :p
I changed my BCM from 07 to an 09 one - it can be made to activate.

I have the chirp only when locking the car
You need to do the above ! :D

I thought I'd actually try this out and it turns out my instructions were not correct, additional coding is required. Will update this post once I have double checked it.

hi all

just been out to my car and under locking i do not have this option, how do i get this option to come up

thanks
kristian
Code it as per the first post. Extra coding is required which I'll post when I get a chance

I've added the extra coding and adaptations that are required in order to get this working now.

I have just updated this for post 2009 cars

Sorry for reviving this old thread, I’ve just tried to use OBDEleven and it’s supposed “one click apps” to enable chirp on lock/unlock - well, that’d didn’t work 🤔

So, is it just a case for my pre-facelift of going into 46 and changing the following long coding options? Enable all the horn lock/unlock via door locks/remote control and disable horn config blocked? - nothing else needs changing?

Interesting - you‘ve got “horn confirmation configuration blocked” set as active, not disabled 🤔

Update - just been out and changed all the red arrow settings to the opposite of what they were in the picture (active set to not active and vice versa) then slide to write = success. Enter DIS and make sure lock/ unlock set to on and hey presto!

Now I’ve got a double chirp on unlock and a single chirp on lock 😁. Also, very handy to be able to change on/off via the DIS menu.

Dunno why the stooopid OBDEleven OCA didn’t work, I’ve tried it before with the same result so just gave up on it, but thanks @MT-V6 for a great guide on “how to” via coding instead 👍🏻👍🏻

Louder than I’d thought it would be, but I like it……

+1 Wormrider - I agree. Flashing lights are enough for me too. But to each their own. ;)

@ Steviejones133 - You should try it with your trunk/boot not properly closed and latched. See if the sound changes. I know with mine, the lights flash differently if the trunk is not fully latched. Like when you pop it, but don't close it completely.

I’ll look into the open boot scenario tomorrow 😉

Most cars I’ve owned in the past have had some kind of audible noise when arming or disarming the alarm and I kinda missed that in the TT. It’s not for everyone, and I appreciate that, but I kinda like that I don’t even have to look at the car to know if I’ve locked it when I’m walking away from it…..ll

Well, leaving the boot not fully latched and locking results in a single chirp, but no indicator flash - the doors do lock though.

Popping the trunk with the fob when the car is locked results in two chirps and two flashes, and when it’s closed again, without touching the fob, it’ll chirp once and flash once.
