Hi all,

So as my car's been layed-up for a while I thought I'd pull out the interior panels and give them a thorough clean (washed with Gtechniq W5 and two coats of C6 Matte Dash) as I was also fitting a USB socket in the drivers cubbyhole and a 12v power socket in the boot as per Wak's site.
https://wak-tt.com/mods/12vboot/12vboot.htm

As with a lot of old plastics some of the rear clips broke, as well as the latches for the rear passenger storage bins - the panel clips seem to glue together OK (love Gorilla glue), while the storage bins I've modified and added magnets to hold the doors closed (which now close with a very satisfying 'clump')

The magnets were from http://www.First4magnets.com
Upper magnet was part no. F1544-10
Lower magnet was part no. F30105-4
They come nickel plated and completely smooth - here they look a bit rough as they were scored with a Dremel to provide a key for the glue (I used water activated Gorilla Glue).

And here's the pics of the panel backs to show the clip positions if anyone fancies pulling theirs apart - it helps to know where to pull (and you really do need to wiggle (them out very firmly to avoid breaking all of the plastic clip holders).

I found it much easier to remove the panels starting at the back and working forwards after removing the rear seats:
Rear boot panel, boot side panels, rear upper headling panel, lower passenger side panels (with storage bins), upper C-pilar panels, upper A-pilar panels, footwell A-pilar panels (and bonnet release), inner sill panels. Refitting is the reverse.

Really nice, since these storage doors are no longer available by Audi.
Thanks.
I'm not sure what a breaker would charge for a whole side panel but the magnets were about ÂŁ17 inc p&p (and would've been cheaper but I ordered them separately so paid postage twice) and I have 8 of the smaller and 2 of the larger magnets left for other projects.

I suppose you'd have to buy the whole rear "door card" from a breaker, keep the storage door and throw away the rest. I ordered both rear storage doors from Audi a few years ago, they were available when I ordered them but only one turned up a month afterwards, the other side was no more. And probably I got the last one in grey, not cheap about 45eur.

But managed to repair the other one with special glue so all is well so far, this is the broken and repaired one.

It's a shame Audi seemed to make the little side tab things that hold the latch in place so flimsy. I guess it was enough to do the job at the time. :?
It sounds like you were lucky getting the last one - and as long as the glue holds then jobs a good 'un. [smiley=thumbsup.gif] [smiley=thumbsup.gif]
