Just looked over my ice silver TTSC Stronic 18" standard wheels -no jack in boot
paint felt rough, dealer said car had been PDId still uncleaned straight from factory Is this usual ?
Kept referring to it as TT Sport is this the correct model reference not TTS
54 miles on clock needles spun round when started
interior black silver leather looked really good
Model designation 8J9 showing i believe MY 2009
Dealer said all MY2008 show 8J8
Is this correct he said all TTS delivered in UK are MY 2009
Bridgestone tyres anybody else got these
Are these any good used to Michelins on my SLK 350 how do they compare

54 is a tad high. My V6s were in the 20s. TTS was 32 from memory.
Dealer will have had a nice road test is my guess. Im told TTS do get an extended factory road test. No idea why.

It is what it is, doesn't really make a difference.

My V6 had 4 miles on the clock on delivery (I checked on the day it came off the transporter), but either way, one week after you take delivery it will have more than 4 or 54, so I wouldn't sweat it. :)

Sorry but any dealer that delivers a 'new' car with more than single figure miles on the clock is taking the piss IMO.

Jack - get the Dealer to sort one. It's crap that you can't remove your wheels for spring cleaning should YOU CHOOSE to

Rough Paint - yep, my new one had some very rough surfaces before I clayed the car. In my case though I told the Dealer not to clean / prep it, just PDI checks

TT Sport - WTF? Sounds like a very clued up Dealer

54 Miles - My 2.0T had 10 miles on it which is fair enough. I wouldn't say 54 is disgraceful exactly, but it does make one wonder a little

All TTS being MY09 - Nope, not correct. Early cars built before week 22 (26th May 2008) are MY08, anything after is MY09. Most TTS will end up being MY09 but to say that all are is just wrong

Are run in figures not a bit of a 'double edged sword' (if you know what I mean).

My 2.0T had 40 miles on it as I remember, is it not the case that some cars may need a more extensive test after PDI, surely all cars have their own 'quirks' etc. following inspection.

Less miles could mean not a thorough enough test (I'd be worried if it had 4 or 5 on it!!)

More miles could indicate 1) they've found / corrected something that therefore would not need to be put right later and 2) the car has had a thorough test.

I wouldn't instantly assume that the dealer has been joy riding or anything else similar.

Enjoy your new car mate

54 miles ? why

:?

PS bet your very excited :D
Are the dealers able to re-set/change the odometer readings on TTs ? It would then at least hide the fact they've given it a good 'test' and look better to the new owner. I had a new odometer fitted to my 3 series some years ago and the dealer was able to input the mileage from the old one.
They would be breaking the law if they did that....

My 2.0T had 4 miles on it, but the TTS had 35 miles on pick up, and an avarage speed of 6 mph...! So the speed does not indicate any "fun ride".

From what I have seen other TTS owners have said about this subject, I think it might be right that they do an extended factory road test.

Errr no they wiouldn't, I know that VWs were able to have their mileage reset a couple of time as long as it wasn't over 50 miles or so .

VAG instrument clusters, IIRC, can have their mileage reading amended using dealer equipment, but can only be increased, and only if the cluster has under 100km on the reading - not illegal, as it's designed to a replacement instrument cluster to read the same as the old one...a fairly common occurence to Mk1 owners

3rd party software can hack the cluster to allow various tweaks and hacks to to take place, some illegal, some not, and they can fool the cluster into displaying a lower mileage reading...again, illegal if used to defraud.

Evening, Janitor. I caught sight of one of your posts about your TTS order recently, hope things have worked out ok for you.

I'm still thinking about the TT and pop in from time to time, the extra engine choices have left me even more confused

Surprised no-one's gone for a Sprint Blue TTS.. or Solar Orange for that matter 8)

The new one I had fitted to my 3 series was increased from 0 to 100000 odd

It's not all bad mate - just trying to weigh things up and even change the picture quite significantly. Nothing seems clear at the moment and I don't really want to take on the car and discover I should have perhaps done something different so I'm trying to clarify things now... to little avail though!

You don't happen to want a very tasty yet sensible TTS do you..? ;)
